A lot of it is probably lack of funding. Updating a website takes time and $$ to pay a guy to do it.

Also when they have to go do rescues it costs them more than $5000. And we all know stupid people go out into the wilderness unprepared.

I wish CA had S&R insurance like CO. Years ago when I lived in CO you would buy a ~$10-20 insurance for they year and I'm sure the net result is that the S&R funding was better.

Agreed, I used to camp on side of road on the way to Yosemite on some dirt pull out and people leave all kinds of trash there. WTF !?!

There is S&R insurance. My work offers it free as a benefit to myself and anybody I live with. I think they pay $40 a year if I remember correctly.

American Alpine Club Membership comes with a bunch of SAR insurance.

You can also get Reach medivac insurance/membership.

If you go in the water a lot you can get DAN (Diver's Alert Network...it insures more than just dive related injuries like Decompression sickness or illness) insurance.

Hmm I'll look around. The closest I have seen is $150.

And I just rediscovered the CO card is $3 or $12 for 5 years!! UT and NH also have them now too I believe. You can also buy a SPOT but then you still need to pay a small fee for insurance on top of your $100 service fee.

More shit then I ever planned on doing
I’ve got medivac insurance for my family. It’s actually really cheap and I recommend to anyone that likes to travel to remote locations to play like the majority of us do.

Where have I heard that one before? Why not wheel Saturday BEFORE this takes place so as not to worry about Sunday.

Bilsteins, ToyTech, AAL, American Racing wheels, stock size tires. FOR NOW! :)

Since REACH got bought by AMGH, and then bought CALSTAR, and AMR if you buy the membership you get covered by EVERYONE ( just about, still not PHI or AirMethHeads ).
It's like $50/yr for a family and covers any costs incurred in medevac...
