Yeah. First couple of start ups. And 5 min running max. Last thing I did was clean the nasty ass push rods etc. Said hell with it. I'ma run it. Took each family member around the shop 5 each. . Didn't touch it yesterday day. And ran it today. And yelled at andy. Saying is it knocking. He said no

Sometimes junkyard engines will knock for a bit depending on how long they have sat. If it isn't to hard to drop the pan I would think about that if the push rods were nasty and check the pick up to make sure it isn't all gummed up and clean it off. Glad that it isn't knocking anymore it sounds good for a stock motor open headers! Also if you can get a good "racing" oil that has a high resistance to cavitation and foaming, that may be a good bet to use with the off camber and angles that it will be subjected to so that it has less of a chance of wiping a bearing if the pickup does become slightly unsubmerged.

Oh yeah. 4 of the push rods we're clogged. 4 cans of carb cleaner and a engine treatment later, with another oil change. Hopefully that's behind meIMG_20180204_094836.jpg IMG_20180204_121151.jpg

Yeah man no prob. Look into some aftermarket pans that'll keep the oil at the pickup. Hell you could make your own baffles and trap doors and weld them into a stock pan if you got one clean enough or a new one! I hope I can make it down to mod day and see that beast! If not I'll see it at AOP

Oh yeah if the pushrods were like that I bet the pickup is like that. That being said the inside of the heads don't look to terribly bad not a ton of coking or sludge!

I think it would be hit or miss about like anything else finding it used. What is the Samsung you mentioned? The Sony receiver I got turned out to be a lot of band for the buck, and my wife picked out the def tech speakers and gave them to me for Christmas last year when I got the amp. They turned out pretty awesome too, but a little pricey. I would love to get a pair of their towers to go with them.

You have a generous wife! lol

The Samsung system is pretty alright, and it's half off right now.

You may need to buy me a Melvin's cheeseburger or let me go shoot some snakes with you near Edisto.

Let me know when you want to grab them.

Guess we need to figure out how to get them to you via TW Express.
