More of my money found a new home. Noticed the driver headlight is out on my way home from work. New set of Silverstar Ultra bulbs, because always replace in pairs . Gotta pass the paint to get to auto parts at the walfart.
Of course, I see spray paint and buy a few cans to do the steel wheels and fix the spots I missed on my slider frame plates.

Difference is much more substantial when trying to clear without trimming on a first gen. I think that is where most of the hype comes from. But 255s definitely have their pros in the slightly better weight/rolling resistance/clearance

Seems like it's way less work to fit 255s, which is a selling point for many.

I agree with both of you, 285s definitely look better, 255s definitely fit easier. they are bout the same height if i remember, rim width will make a difference in that. 255s are lighter, and from what I have read, they are also better in mud as they dig down through the mud to the hard bottom easier than a wider tire. All that being said, I love my 285s and will buy them again.

It took all of 15 minutes to trim plastic to fit 285s on mine....from 265s. + CMC that should be done with 255s. Problem is, most people use wider rims or rims with more offset when they put 285s on. That's when the rubbing starts. I stayed with stock TRD OR wheels.

Once we go to some dunes and the 255s actually perform worse than 285s I'll consider a change

255s apparently cause issues with map reading skills.....:D
