Oh the joys you will have with that harness... I had my high beam indicator on, with the stalk set to low beams, and no headlights being on at all...

Check the fuses and relay for proper fitment (sometimes my radio fuse backs out, or the headlight relay does) and see if that works. If not then it could be the stalk

 

That's funny cause I've been to the dealership twice in the last 2 weeks for this issue and of course they come out with the tsb 2 days after I was in for the work. The tech told me the noise is characteristic of MT Tacos..... So they told either have to live with it

This doesn't sound like a relay to me. Relays are very simple, this sounds like something else going on. Unfortunately, you're going to need a test light to prove it out. My bet would be on the switch. The whine you hear at the relay is likely because the switch is feeding power to multiple parts of the relay so the relay is whining trying to figure out which way to go. I think your real issue is upstream of the relay.

 

Really what you need to ask yourself is which is more important to you: Sex, or suspension.

Since you're married with an anklebiter running around, you aren't having sex anyway, so you might as well go with the suspension.

I agree; relays are a yes/no option. Typically when they go bad they don't cycle.
But, you can do an easy test by swapping in a good relay; there should be an identical one for the low beams in that same box. No tools required and it's an easy way to eliminate the relay as a cause.

Edit- Which relay did you pull? If I remember right from my '10, there should be a relay for high beams, a relay for low beams, and a relay labeled 'dim/dimmer' which is what controls the cycling from high/low.

 

Hit the nail right on the head about the no sex part.

 

There's one relay, four fuses for the lights in the underhood fuse box. I looked but didn't find another identical relay to swap with. It's a cheap enough part of I can find it locally, I'm going out this morning to try. If swapping the relay doesn't fix it, I'll look into finding a replacement switch. It's Friday ,I should be able to get to a parts counter if I have to.

Good morning! Missed the watch thread. When I was in Greece about 100 years ago I bought a very expensive Tag Hauer watch that now sits in my desk drawer. At the time jewelry and watches were much cheaper there, so I figured I'd buy one. Turns out I can't keep an expensive watch on my wrist for more than a few months without breaking the pins because I catch it on something. Worst use of $1200 quite possibly in my entire life. This is it... Anyone want to buy it? Just needs a pin and battery! LOL

There should still be a relay labeled "headlight" and one labeled "dim/dimmer" then. Which did you pull?
