Depends on the relay, really. The secondary circuit should be the one that only has continuity on one side, though. The secondary circuit on the relay closing is what completes the circuit and gives continuity to kick the light on, so if you jump that it should turn the lights on. If they don't do the twitchy on/off that you were describing before, then the problem is the relay. If they are, then the problem lies elsewhere.

But, if you're already off to the dealership, I'm probably too late

So I did the "I'm sick of my wipers being fucking ice mod" this morning. All you need is a flat head and size 14 socket/wrench. Took me 5 minutes. Weather is good today so hard to tell if it works. Might pour water on my windshield later today and see how it works when I have some time. I could have adjusted them not as high, but I wanted the stuff that collects under them to get melted also. Does not effect my interior view at all and when I sprayed the windshield with fluid everything cleared and worked fine. Before and after pics includedIMG_20180209_085218.jpg

I feel as though the driver's wiper is now going to be contacting your A-pillar at the top of its stroke.

I did the "I'm sick of my wipers being fucking iced mod' years ago. In my case, it was also known as the F150 mod :stirthepot:

Shrug. It's a feeling that's based on personal experience; the wiper arms on my '84 Dodge are held in place by tension, so if you have too much snow load it's easy to spin them on the wiper hub. The hubs and the arm bases are splined, and if you're off by a spline in either direction you either get contact with the body at the base of the windshield (one spline too low) or on the A-pillar (one spline too high).

So, hopefully Tacomas have a little more room for error, but I remember the driver's wiper on my '10 being very close to the A-pillar at the top of it's stroke without any modification to where it sat on the wiper hub. :notsure:

I can double check soon but I'm pretty sure it doesn't hit. Was driving my wives 4 runner a second ago and there is a good inch or two extra room from the factory setting.

Fingers crossed for you, then. Obviously it'd be nice if the solution to your icing problem was that easy. You'll want to test them on the highest setting, with water on the windshield to simulate a good heavy rain (lower friction on the windshield and higher speed on the wiper = further to the limit-of-travel for the wiper)

Didn't think about running them at different speeds. I can't produce the rain without some help, but I think .we might be getting some tomorrow I can test it on

Ugh, are you guys getting rain tomorrow?

We're supposed to get a 'wintry mix' but mostly snow, at least.

On my wifes new Camry, the wipers are weird. You can just tilt up the passengers side whenever you need but on the drivers side when they are at the rest position and you try to lift it, it hits the hood.

At first I didn't know this but a coworker has the same car and he told that me deep in the manuel it explains the procedure to raise the wipers. You need to have the key in and on the on position the turn the key off and within 45 seconds you need to hold the wiper in the swipe position. Once you hold it for about 5 seconds the wipers will go up and stop at the top of the stroke, then you can get out and lift both wiper blades off the windshield. So stupid!

Wtf? Do you then have to jump on one foot and turn counter clockwise?

That is so over engineered for no reason.

The reason they claim is aerodynamics. Supposedly to tuck the wipers in more but I can still see them fine in this picture

Right, but why not make the procedure as simple as "key on, wipers on, key off when wipers are at desired position" ?

Edit- Does that car cut power to everything when the door is opened and the key is off? On my F150 if the wipers are on and you turn the key off the wipers will continue their sweep until they're back in the 'down' position, but if you turn the key off and open the door it cuts power and they freeze wherever they're at.

    Well
Well, you were right sir! It was hitting and I had to lower it a tad. Now it is higher than stock, but just barley on/above that black defrost line. Won't know if it totally fixed my issue for a little bit tho. Sorry for the sass!

And I think the wipers go all the way down after cutting power
