Because then they would move as soon as you turned the key and if you forgot to move them down and turned the key it would scratch the paint. Doing this procedure adds a step, you have to hit the wipers 1st to move them. Problem is it still doesn't stop them from scratching the paint if you still forget lower the wipers before hand

Rats. Sometimes I hate it when I'm right, actually, lol. Better than finding out in the middle of a pouring rain storm, I guess. Hopefully having them sit just that little bit higher will keep them thawed, though.

Wow. Looks like LL Bean finally got sick of all of the people trolling them for free product.
Just got this in my email:

    A Letter to Our Customers

Since 1912, our mission has been to sell high-quality products that inspire and enable people to enjoy the outdoors. Our commitment to customer service has earned us your trust and respect, as has our guarantee, which ensures that we stand behind everything we sell.

Increasingly, a small, but growing number of customers has been interpreting our guarantee well beyond its original intent. Some view it as a lifetime product replacement program, expecting refunds for heavily worn products used over many years. Others seek refunds for products that have been purchased through third parties, such as at yard sales.

Based on these experiences, we have updated our policy. Customers will have one year after purchasing an item to return it, accompanied by proof of purchase. After one year, we will work with our customers to reach a fair solution if a product is defective in any way.

This update adds clarity to our policy and will only affect a small percentage of returns. It will also ensure we can continue to honor one of the best guarantees in retail, with no impact for the vast majority of our customers. To learn more, please view our full return policy at llbean.com.

L.L.Bean has stood for quality, service, trust, and getting people outdoors ever since my great-grandfather founded our company over 100 years ago - and that will never change. Thank you for being a loyal customer and we look forward to continuing to inspire and enable you to Be an Outsider.

    Sincerely,

Kendra's accord was like that. It pissed me off to no end trying to change the wipers on that car.

Exactly. Too many people abusing it. I've brought product back before, but it's been stuff that genuinely didn't live up to my expectations (shrank in the wash, seam burst, soles separated after too short of a time, etc). Never something that I plain wore out.

Annoyingly, more and more of their product is falling into that 'did not meet expectations' since they've moved so much production overseas. I've got a canvas shirt from them that I bought when I was in high school that is still serviceable (even though it is getting a little tattered at the edges), and the same model of canvas shirt that I bought 3 years ago that is ready for the rag bag.

My wipers will collect ice, but are never frozen to the windshield. If I just tap the wiper switch quick, the blades will usually jump to where yours are now without completing a cycle. The defroster melts the ice, then I hit the switch again, wipers continue like normal.

I did hit the dealership but they weren't able to do much for me. They didn't have any technicians available to try and diagnose it and the parts counter was a wash on parts to try replacing. I've been driving it around with the heat cranked all morning hoping that there is some moisture in there somewhere causing the problem. The only thing that the dealer parts guy came up with that I hadn't considered is the BCM, a $700 part tied into the under-dash fuse block. So for now, not much to do, cancelling our plans to ski tomorrow and we're going to head home while we have daylight. Maybe I'll get back and have some time to do more detective work before surrendering it to the dealership. No appointment made yet, but if I can't make any headway with it this weekend then I'm headed there first thing on Monday.

If you can, swap that relay with an identical one in the fuse panel. If another relay you know to be good starts whining when you use the headlights, then there's a wiring issue.

I never knew that was a feature. I will have to try that, it could just fix the problem totally for me. Good to know thanks!

I wouldn't say it's a feature, just good timing with the switch.

Honestly tired of trying... don't even have the energy to try. I gave up. Besides, kids don't really want to sleep over... we've tried that and didn't go very well. Oldest threw a fit.

The suspension on the other hand... I dunno. Part of me says fuck it and do it anyway because I would like to eventually upgrade that, especially now that I have the cap in the back. Part of me says don't do it cause I don't feel like dealing with the wife's shit.

    This is an interesting listen:

I buy quite a bit from them. Only made two returns, both of things that had stitching issues within a couple months. It's disappointing that some people abuse it.

I know ice fishermen who have abused that policy a whole bunch. Like using an expensive auger for 3 years before returning it. People do the same at Home Depot.. use a table saw for a project then return it. Must be nice to have no morals or conscious.
