Finally got my AWS after a 3 month wait. Overall, it looks good but something weird is going on in the shackle pin hole. The coating is super thin on the top of the shackle pin hole, and I can see metal where the shackle pin would bear against when under load. The bottom of the shackle pin hole looks like it was colored with a sharpie. :annoyed:

dude... that's exactly what they did is color it w/ a sharpie.... was it you that was telling me the AWS had some initial issues w/ their coating?

Yeah. Smittybilt told me they had issues with their coatings, but the issues were related to UV fading. I sent those last two pictures to Smittybilt CS. They've been pretty good/responsive so far when I've contacted them.

This was last Jan 6-7 it was 2° w/o wind chill. The first time in many years the Rappahanock froze solid across. Crazy to see the water freeze as we paddled.

@TacoCat come out to my place I have 2 mile dirt road and we back up to a 9 mile loop trail off Braddock road. I tend to take walks after work just to get my leg moving and rehab after surgery.

Fond memories of my 89 suburban 2500. First truck I got to really take off road, lots of mud and old logging roads in Maine. 44 gal tank, 350 small block and ~8mph. Those were the days.240px-Chevrolet_Suburban.jpg

Got the light bar I swapped @PyritePirateBill for installed. Damn thing is really bright! Was able to find some Scion back lit switches that snap right into the factory blanks under the ashtray.
    front-light.jpg switches.jpg

Tomorrow I'm going to set up the 6 lights on the roof rack (4 front, 2 back). If you see a ridiculously bright object driving around in Northern VA it's either my truck or some lost MD-80 from Dulles that took a wrong turn.
