I've had this noise since day one and it's really starting to get annoying. Only happens in 1st, 3rd, and 5th gear when the shifter rubs on the boot. Anyone else have this? Any ideas on how to remedy? I'm assuming I need to take off the center console plastic to get to it? I'm thinking of wrapping it with some cloth tape.

    Sorry for the crappy video.

My shift boot is doing the same thing. Driving me insane. Did you fix the noise?

I think the noise comes from the collar at the top of the boot (at least in my case). Whenever mine starts doing that I just shove the collar down a little bit and it stops for a while.

It's hard to tell from the video, but does it make the noise only when shifting or while it's just sitting there in gear while you're driving? Mine only makes a squeaking noise when I shift.

Mine makes noise when it's in gear while driving. If i twist the boot a little it stops for a bit. I'm probably going to take it apart and see what's going on.

If it's the collar that's making the noise, one solution would be to take some sandpaper and rough up the part of the shaft where the collar sits.

    Lots baby!
Put a dab of silicone grease on the shifter where the collar hits it.

Too many to list, and I've probably forgotten a bunch.
First I clean the boot really well with a damp cloth, or even a baby wipe. I let it dry, and then I put a little silicone spray on a clean rag and wipe down the boot. Shuts it up for about a year.

This or I use leather cleaner on it when it starts & lasts a year or so.

Yes, mine has started doing this recently. I think I'll try the silicone thing. It doesn't bother me much but why not give it a try.

I rubbed a bunch of leather conditioner on the outside of the boot and it seemed to fix it... although it got to like -10 last night and the boot was kinda stiff in the morning from it but all is good.

Mine does it all the damn time in the odd numbered gears. It seems to be coming from the right front corner of the boot. No idea how to fix it, I just turn the music up louder.
