Tonight was another great Fermentation Fridays. Tonight was hosted by a friend who does not have a beer cellar. So he went to Highland Park Brewery and a local liquor store to buy this selection.

    1.jpg

We started with a growler of a hazy IPA from Highland Park Brewery called "That's It". This was very juicy.
    2.jpg

Next up was a limited bottle release called "Neighborhood". This was an interesting and enjoyable sour.
    3.jpg

Third was "Feed the Cats". This had good brett on the nose and interesting flavors. I liked this the best so far.
    4.jpg

Fourth, we traveled across the globe to the Netherlands from Brouwerij De Molen. This was by far the winner of the night. Super dry. No alcohol burn but a chili pepper burn. Smoke aroma and complex malt flavors. What a great surprise!
    5.jpg

Fifth was from Goose Island. This was the worst of the bunch. We all hoped it would be good, but NO!!!! Waaaaaaaayyyyyyy too much almond extract. Too sweet. Too manufactured. I will not drink this one again.
    6.jpg

And then the finale..."Robert the Bruce" from Three Floyds. This was enjoyable, but my palette was wrecked after the Goose Island that I couldn't fairly judge. Oh well. I liked it, so maybe again someday.

How does your weekly meets work? The person who hosts supplies all the beer? Or does everyone bring something along? I wish I had a group local like that where we could do a weekly, shit, even a once monthly bottle share.

We're just a group of guys that all work together. At the moment it's only five people, which is actually good, because too many people means a longer wait until it's your turn. Anyways, we started this in November and it's a blast so far. There's nothing official, but we simply rotate so that each week one person brings in enough beer to sample for the entire group. Of course, someone jumps in the mix and brings in something special when it's not their turn, which is what tonight's Three Floyds turned out to be.

Other than that, there was a couple weeks when people were sick or on vacation that we chose to each bring in a beer instead of one person hosting. No matter what, it always turns out interesting. What I've discovered is that people have different tastes or life experiences, which affects their cellar collection.

I'd invite you if it wasn't for the fact that we're at work while doing this. But we've talked about getting together on a weekend for a bottle share. I'll let you know and you can join us.

Are you located in Southern California? Mor specifically, OC? If so I'd love to partake. I've got quite a collection. Pretty much every single Bottle Logic release from the last 2 years, some rare barrel, a 2012 Dark Lord from three floyds, Bruery special releases, the list goes on and on

I'm in Culver City, as are a few of us. That's not too far from the OC. We'll have to hook up for sure!

    @TXpro4X4
Hey! I was in Vermont last October and sampled a handful of local beers. Aside from the obvious Hill Farmstead and Alchemist, I was able to get some Hermit Thrush and Upper Pass. Have you had Upper Pass? I know they're very small and don't have wide distribution, but I had "Little Farmhouse" saison ale from them that was fantastic.
