What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

It’s one that I can see the other side of it. I didn’t take a picture, I should have. It’s not the tow point one, PO removed them I think he had a bull bar on it at some point. It’s one of the 4 bolts that holds the the front bumper on.

 

Can you put pressure on it with a long bar or hit the end with a hammer or something? Maybe force it far enough to catch a thread. I had to do it on my back bumper...

 

I used a prybar and tried to get enough force while wrenching to get it to catch but came up empty handed. I’m tempted to cut it then deal with it after the bumper is off

 

Maybe you could cut it off on the thread end and hit it with a punch and get it out.

I dunno dude, maybe someone more experienced will chime in, I’m just a dumb kid

 

You gotta check out the one I picked up for my kings after Monte bent mine.

Don't let Monte get a hold of it. He'll just bend it.

 

Punch is the way to go, no slop and the jack handle fits over it nicely. Takes me 5 mins to adjust the coils when needed.

 

Holster hills is the closest offroad park, but you can also check out panoche or tumey hills, blm land with miles of dirt roads.

 

How does it work with BLM land? It's all public and you can just drive onto it?

 

What size are those?

 

It's public land, and generally there are already a ton of trails on it. Good to stay on the trail, but that often feels like "driving anywhere" anyway.

What turbo said. Mostly not any 4x4 trails, some whashouts, but would be a good place to test out the 4x4 and get a feeling for it before heading to HH. Plus you can shoot pretty much anywhere. Check out their website for rules and regs, it's been years since I've been to either.

I am not convinced a punch is better than a quality 'wrap around' tool.

 

Why though, the punch is hardened steel that fits the hole properly. Even the Icon wrench which looks like a nice piece isn't up to the task. These wrenches work fine for weak little Civic coils and what not but our coils are a bit much.

 

The evidence says the unsupported punch will bend whereas a quality wrap around tool does not.

edit: besides, I do not not have civic coils. My wrap around works pretty good on my Kings with 700# coils.

 

The wrenches are what people are always having to replace whereas my punch has seen multiple coilovers and my jack handle as an extra lever and cost a solid $7. Still straight and I've adjusted the coils with all the weight on the ground once too (terrible way to do it BTW, don't recommend that)

 

The wrap arounds work better because they have 2 points of contact vs 1.

Just have to find a wrench thay the pins don't separate from. Or just use the punch. I just alternated sides and kept bending it back and forth haha
