i forgot about my free oil changes at the dealership

 

My aren't "free" got suckered into a maintenance plan when I bought the truck... by a bully of a finance guy

i got 3 free for going to a toyota night at the dealer.....well i signed up to go, never did make it though and still got me oil changes

 

Yeah... will never deal with that butt hole ever again!!! If he's where ever I go to get my next vehicle, I will get up and walk out, or just not sit down in the first place.

I am sort of a neat freak with wiring, can't help it I am an old phone guy and that is the way I was taught. When BB did the control module the wiring was not laced up in there the way I would have done it. I should correct it this summer if time permits.

The remote battery cover slides in with 2 prongs on each side and a tab at the top that slips into a groove in the main remote case. The prongs break very easily and the groove at the top of the case will break and the case is toast. To Viper's credit they did replace the remote and I have learned that to place the battery cover back on you need to slide it up in there as far as you can with your finger then take a flat blade screwdriver and twist it in the groove formed at the bottom of the remote and the battery cover. This will properly engage the tab in the groove at the top of the remote.

Overall I would give the unit as purchased 4 and 1/2 stars out of 5. There are add on modules that would address your security concerns but at an additional cost.

I think I am a lot like you in that I prefer to do it myself. For this job I knew I would need a wiring diagram and I did not have one and I am not going to pay $450 for a set of 2009 Toyota shop manuals. The wiring in the 2009 is a lot different from the wiring in the 2007 Tacoma. The 2007 is the latest wiring schematics I can find on the internet.
