I used the foam pipe tube on the outside between the cab and bed and it did quit it down some. I haven't really gotten into doing any interior soundproofing. Tried getting the covers off the bolt covers on the back wall of the truck and then gave up. I did buy the picks as recommended but haven't really tried hard to get the covers off, kind of frustrated on that part. I just don't want to gouge or mark the piss out of them. So waiting for some other advice and maybe some luck.

Best of luck. Short of doing this, and sound deadening the entire interior with high density foam I've had little luck in reducing cab noise. Seriously considering trading for a, dare I say it, Chevy Colorado. Maybe the Taco double cabb is quieter, maybe its just an AC issue.

I am not going to that extreme, I don't want to take apart my whole interior. Thanks

Agree. In Canada I paid $50k to drive my 16 TRD OR AC off the lot, all in. Came from a Ford Ranger for christ sake that wasn't as noisy. And for $50 I expected a lot more.

All of you crying because your TRUCK, that you bought in the most TRUCK CONFIGURATION possible (Access cab) is loud. :sadviolin:

This is why trucks keep being made more and more like SUVs and cars. Maybe you should try trading it in for a Ridgeline? I heard they have tampon dispensers in the console that you'll need.

    Cool story, bro.
I've owned 4 trucks, all REGULAR CABS. This TurdAC is the worst and more expensive than all 4 previous trucks combined. We can complain and will either figure it, get over it, or sell them.

Funny how the same people that complain about cutting corners are almost always are the same people complaining about the price. :bored:

Yikes, and tampon dispenser references to boot. Have you driven a Tundra, or a Silverado or an F150, or a Colorado, or..........all "real trucks" with real frames that are very quiet and oh, most come in the AC truck configuration. But thanks for your brilliant and tasteful inputs.

    Old thread revival...
I will be putting dynamat on the back side of the rear panels to reduce the in cabin noise. More to follow, but these little vents are the primary source of road noise in my truck.
I do not want to cover them since they do serve a legitimate purpose, but I want a quieter cab. Maybe a reverse snorkel to relocate the sound is a part of the solution. Thoughts?

Can you take a few more photos of that? I need to replace mine, and I want to make sure I get the right one...

They are the source of the noise in mine as well..... I sprayed on some Sound Deadener, which helped. Then I silicone all around those very loose vents, so they would at least seal around them..... Then I added some medium celled foam around and over the vents. They can still open and breath as designed, but the foam deadens the noise a bit more. I'm still not happy and am thinking of Dyna Nat as well, this summer..

Not sure what a reverse snorkel is..?

    Keep us posted, eh..!

Think of something like an attachment for a shop vac that goes over the vents. Then attach a hose with a diffuser at the other end and route to a location that will provide a better sound buffer. Very abstract idea at the moment, but I’ll be sure to document it in detail when finished.

Fixed. Combination of matting and foam...
Truck is SO much quieter inside.

So I took an experimental approach:
Removed seats, rear panels, and stock sound curtain.
    1. A large majority of the noise originates from the cabin exhaust vents. Not only are the flaps flimsy, there is NO seal between the vent assembly and the rear sheet metal. I used a flexible caulk saver to fill the gaps.

    2. Next up soundproof matting and foam from an old gun case.

    3. Reinstalled factory sound curtain. The pressure from the curtain keeps the foam in place and tight enough to reduce noise without creating back pressure in the cab.

    4. Reinstall back panel and viola’ - quiet truck.

Video in next post showing vents in operation. Hope this helps! I’m extremely pleased with the results.

My extremely amateur attempt to document the rear cabin exhaust airflow.

Results, that's all I want. I've done a lot to reduce the road noise on my AC. Thx for sharing.

Too much to read. But I'm assuming you guys know not to cover the cabin vents?

They serve an important function. Covering them will make your HVAC system less efficient and could even cause momentary pressure issues when you roll up a window or shut a door
