Got rear ended by a senior citizen on the interstate. Says she fell asleep i was going 65mph she was probably going 75 to 80mph. I spun into the cables in the median. She hit hard...

    Update 2/13/18
Just got word from the lady's insurance that they are going to total the truck. I am waiting on the call to discuss the settlement. I was able to get my husky liners and bed mat out but not my brand new kicker speakers. I'm going to provide them receipts and claim that with them. I also got some better pictures while it was at the body shop this morning. I'll add those at the bottom of the post

Pet peeve: Insurance costs are calculated based on risk. Young drivers pay by far the highest insurance premiums because they are the most likely to cause or be involved in auto accidents. You know the second most likely accident causing group of people? Senior citizens. But guess what, they don't have high insurance premiums. They get discounts.

    Yep.
Its too bad, but trucks can be repaired and replaced. Can be costly and inconvenient.
But you and family came through unscathed is the bottom line. Glad you're ok.

But they also drive less, and have typically paid into the insurance system for any moons.

They drive less and still are the 2nd highest accident causing group. What does that say?

They either forget where the brake pedal is, they can't see, or just flat out forget what they are doing.

I'm glad everyone is ok. And at least she admited fault... hopefully she doesn't change her story later. Reflexes and coordination tend to diminish with age, one study even equated age to intoxication once you reach a certain point.

It's a feelings thing instead of logic thing. Just like health insurance. Women use health insurance way more than men. So they always had higher insurance rates. But then the emotionally driven lawmakers were voted into office and they had to fix this "discrimination" and now men get charged more to even it out.

20180207_162652.jpg Its one of the main reasons I retired from flying helicopters; age induced refex slowing.
Vastly more experience and developed skills over youth, but ya just start to slow down.
    Y'all will get here.
    Enjoy the ride!

This depends on what age group you consider "senior citizens". Generally speaking rates start to rise at a certain age, and as drivers age their rates on average are in line with the 26-44 group. But, yeah, sucks to be a 16-24 year old male with a nice car or truck, insurance is gonna be ridiculous, even if you're on mommy and daddy's plan.

So when their rates "rise," they are in line with the safest age group lol. Nice...
