    I don't know him.
There was a decent chance with how small this place is.

Not true for me. When I turned 70, my auto insurance went up. Never have filed a claim in at least 50 years. Reason given for the increase was age. It is even stated on my policy as drivers over age 70.

Mine never dropped after 25 or 26 either. I would just say I had a very gradual decrease over the years. Nothing significant after a certain age.

    Agreed! AARP
I read your post and got curious about the laws in my state. For NC, DL in person renewal required every 8 years till 66 then every 5 years. Vision and road test required at the renewal. No other medical screening required. But if family members feel someone shouldn't drive and that person is being stubborn, they can submit a request for an investigation.

Should state governments step in and be more invasive with this? I don't have a well formed opinion. But this is why I spend almost as much time looking in my rear and side view mirrors as I do looking out through the windshield. Drive like everyone out there is trying to kill you with their vehicle.

It could've been much, much worse OP. Be thankful to still be on the top side of the earth, as devastating as it is to look at your ruined Taco.

Situationally dependent, so many variables. If you have some hits on your driving record, or if premiums across the board recently went up in you area, or if you moved recently or got a new vehicle, that might make sense. If you have a perfect record and everything else has remained the same, that's weird. And if that's true you ought to shop around.

Insurance is a damn complicated thing sometimes.

My Dad's insurance company sent him a letter 2 years ago saying that his premiums would be increasing slightly due to the statistical reality that after "50+ years of driving" the odds of having an at fault collision rises annually. I love that they called it 50+ years of driving, not "being old".

Yea, doesnt help that FL is one of the 2 highest states on insurance. Ive gotten a number of speeding tickets but none considered "reckless" its never gone up from a speeding ticket. Sure hasnt dropped either. No accidents.
