Door Speaker Upgrade!!!

    So I finally bit the bullet and replaced my stock speakers with some Kicker CS series 6x9's up front and 6.5's in the rear. For such a simple upgrade it is defiantly worth it. However I ordered all of my stuff from Crutchfield and for some reason I am not really impresses with the adapters I got. I realize I got them for free but they are just not near the quality I have seen in the past, none of the holes lined up for the door bolts or to mount the speakers to the adapters. But besides that everything minus the tweeters went smooth, they are just plum the wrong size and they didn't send me an adapter so I had to butcher the driver side together and there isn't nearly enough slack on the passenger side to cut and splice wires so its still stock for now. But here are some pictures if how the aftermarket compares to stock! The only thing I need to do is order an adapter for the tweeters and take my front passenger door off and try and find whats rattling but it was 65* yesterday and now its 20* so it can wait a few days if needed. I am in no means a pro at audio stuff but this only took me an hour with the exception of screwing with the tweeter which I'm still not sure I wired it correctly so if someone knows how it is suppose too be done please let me know!

    Also taking suggestions for an aftermarket head unit as I want to go ahead and amp my speakers and add a sub without all the crazy adapters, plus I'm starting to have crazy entune issues.

    Thats what is so nice about the Subaru Tweeters, they are a direct swap.

    I'm m curious how these work out for you, the door speakers specifically. I've bought high quality speakers in the past and the head unit didn't have the power to push them to their potential leaving me with even worse than factory. So... subd

    It’s definitely an improvement over factory but yes you are right, they need an amp to reach their best sound quality.

    Check out sensitivity level when buying speakers especially when an amp is not in the picture. Speakers with higher sensitivity rating do better with factory units...but imo there’s really no reason to not have an amp these days it’s absolutely ridiculous how cheap and how much actual decent car audio stuff is out there.

    Alright I’ve ordered the kicker tweeters and fixed the harness I cut off.

    However I’ve taken the passenger door off twice to try and find the rattle in the speaker and I can’t! Has anyone ever bought speakers and one was blown or defective from the factory? I am about to go insane here, please help me.

    x2 - doing this speaker upgrade isn't like what I've experienced in the past which has always started with speakers, that I'm then unimpressed with due to loss of volume, which leads to amp, sub, etc., With the 7" entune head unit I have no need/desire for anything beyond the subaru tweeters and 4 kicker CS series with the cheap noico sound deadening material!
