Newb in SoCal

Greetings peeps! I just adopted a 2002 Tacoma Prerunner V6 Extended Cab. It belongs to my GF, who isn't exactly knowledgeable about her mode of transport. I'm here for advice on maintaining an aging Taco. So far, I've replaced the headlights and all interior lights along with all the belts and hoses. Fresh oil and tranny fluid was next. Some problems I will be addressing soon: Door stop thingies are worn out, and the suspension needs some serious attention. I daily a MkVI GTI, so, to me, this thing literally drives like a truck Still, I'm looking forward to asking questions. So, here goes. What is the first few things I need to check and/or replace?

EDIT: As of today there are 163,299 miles on the clock.

 

Throw some gear in the bed thriw the gf in the truck go to barstow for a weekend try n get list in the trails. See what you want to fix, have a great weekend with the gf and her truck

Try n find the trail that goes to vegas.

 

LOL! I gotta get my feet wet on a few bunny hills before tackling anything that big. I go shooting at a place call Berdoo Canyon, and there is a trail that takes you all the way up into Joshua Tree NP. I see quite a few Jeeps taking that route and I'll have to research if a 2WD can make it.

 

There should be a socal thread here check with them see if you can join in on a trip. Some have 2wd most of them have 4wd mall crawlers.

 

Yeah, I see that. Seems a lot of you are in my neighborhood, or close enough. I'll check it out.
