I was wondering if anyone on here has just a strait pipe exhaust and how does it sound. Anyone have any videos? I'm thinking about doing it but I wanna know if it sounds good or not before I do it.

In that video thats probably not good for a truck, it sounds like its underwater when he gets on it, it needs some back pressure.

When I was in the process of putting my new exhaust on, all my stuff was cut out and I ran it that day. This is a v6 in these trucks and its obvious. It is essentially the same noise as a pissed off lawnmower. Not to my taste, definitely loud.

There was a thread on here a month ago or so where a guy replaced his straight pipes with a flowmaster muffler and couldn't believe the power GAIN.

 All I said was he had a gain vs. straight pipes.

So you are actually agreeing with me.

<-- hacked off right before muffler. stock exhaust w/ no muffler sounds meaty. I love it with the slide window open. Sounds like a class 10!

Had a flowmaster and TRD cat back on the truck. Both sounded awful to me, typical v6 weedwacker buzzing, unfortunately 6 cyls never sound really good unless its a straight like a 2JZ or IS motor.

O.P.- Exhaust note is something you really can't have other people tell you if it sounds good or not, just have to research your options and see which one you can handle hearing everytime you drive :)

I have an older toy with the high flow cat and with a cherry bomb type muffler. Just feeds straight though. It has that old school toy sound. I love it. Running straight pipe sucks because I tried it before. Way too loud!

I would not recommend this. It is too loud, and if you're going to be on public streets you will be hounded by the people you piss off.

Haha  Call me old... Ill confess that If I hear straight pipes in my hood, on my street I just call the cops on 'em. Peace and quiet is more important that being cool at this point in my life. ;)

I would say if it was a v8 go for it they will sound nasty but on a v6 your going to sound ricey and horrible especially if it's an auto.

I cut my rear cats just leaving my cats on my header and dropped a flomaster 50 on there and sounds great.
Next plan is to get new headers and make it a full dual exhaust from the headers back.
