Those Simca’s made great Rally cars.

If we are talking first vehicles...

My first vehicle my father gave me and taught me how to drive a 1948 Willyz CJ-2A. First vehicle I bought myself was a 1967 Jeepster Commando. That ol flatfender was like learning to drive a tractor. Straight cut gears and a 90lb clutch made it difficult for my scrawny little ass. Not to mention manual steering. I can remember sneaking it out of the garage and bump starting it down the hill to joyride when I was about 14, before I had my license. I drove that thing all over the hills of Benicia and Vallejo.

I drove that Simca a few times. I didn't run when I bought it. Had been sitting for a few years. Friend of mine and I got it running. I didn't have a license or insurance and the car wasn't registered and only had the emergency brake.

Mine wasn't as clean as that photo. The paint was faded but it was straight and had all its parts.

    Well. All of them :D

You should go, have a couple and decide for yourself. Right now, King Citra and Mighty Wings are two of my favorites. Broken Clouds, Saint Thomas, Tiger Uppercut, Young Murks, ... The thing is, you have to remember they don't always have everything and you might find something new or better.

Text me your room number and I’ll go down even harder.

Also, man.. rough day for you today. Hope you’re not too banged up, but apparently that brace is needed. Hope you get healed up quick. Let me know if you need anything. On a side note, looks like the front of that brace might double as a sex toy. Ask the hot nurse to bring you a warm sock and some Vaseline.

Then show her where to apply it.

Got my license in a '65 Cortina GT after two older brothers had their turn. Good news was being last I got to keep it and drive it for another 12 years until '89. If any of you have Speed Racer with the special features check out Spridels tour, part way through it he shows off the Racer family trophy room and on one shelf with no plack is a Cortina tail light lens. I can only think that it was a quiet tribute to Jimmy Clark who raced a Cortina as well as formula I for Team Lotus before his untimely demise at Nuremburg. Certainly one of the best drivers of his era it was said he could win behind the wheel of anything and did so once in a milk truck.

First was a 1970 BMW 2002 purchased for $900 with my hard- earned Round Table money when I was 16. That looks like a 4 door version and an awesome 1st vehicle.

2nd was a 1965 Scout 80. Same specs as the Willy’s except only 1st had straight cut gears with no synchro. The gigantic steering wheel made the manual steering bearable. The manual tranny made the 4 wheel drum brakes with no booster semi- safe.
The next 5 vehicles were boring until the 1971 Scout. The 2009 Tacoma was the closest thing to new when I bought it in 2011. Then proceeded to make it look old with steelies and pizza cutters...

Someday I’ll have another 2002. And a Scout 80. Or maybe just an FJ55.

    With a popup camper. Duh...

Somehow, an old iron pig seems to suit your personality. Love those 55’s, but man are they plagued with rust issues. Finding a clean, no rust model is essentially buying a fully restored one. The markets gone bonkers on the FJ series Landcruisers.

In other news, the wife and I are on the path towards buying a house in Benicia. Man, it will be great to be back in my hometown. I miss my morning coffee at Java on First st. Buying this house in EPA was a smart financial move. I just hate living here. Can’t wait to be back in Beniciaaaaaaah.
