I am so annoyed. Less than 750 on the odometer and some clown decides he can make it through a red light when it's yellow and I'm in the middle of the intersection, so he accelerated right into me.

Then, to make matters worse, I hurt my knee in the accident so I couldn't take the field sobriety test, and I followed the instructions I got from an attorney to never take the field test, always tell them if they want the test they have to take you in. So of course, they took me in. Spent over an hour at the cop stop until they did the paperwork and I took the real test. Needless to say, I was immediately released.

So sorry to hear that man, I can’t imagine the rage I would feel if some a**hole did that to me. Too many idiots in this world man, one thing I’ve learned is always look both ways when coming to an intersection even if it’s green. Sorry about the Tacoma and your knee but guess what, you’re alive and well, insurance will cover damages and maybe you’ll be in a new Tacoma soon. Truck did it’s job and kept ya in one piece!

Not tracking. Light was yellow or red? If it was yellow, who was going straight and who was turning left?

It had turned yellow a couple seconds earlier. I was in the intersection turning left, he was going straight. He accelerated to make the light. I wasn't watching the light at that point. When I made the turn I first looked and he was pretty far out. I can't believe he tried to make that light. When he accelerated it was all over. I saw him and had nowhere to go to get out of his way. Another driver had turned right on the cross street so he swerved and then swerved back into me.

No airbags at all. And it seems obvious to me that they should have deployed.

Just wondering, but was blame assigned to either? Sounds like you were both in the middle of the intersection with a yellow/red light. I'm always mindful of making a light that someone could always try to turn left right in front of me at the same time.

If you turned in front of him in Ca they will say its your fault every time unless you can prove he went through a red light.

Daannnnggg sorry about your truck, but most importantly you're ok.

Also, not sure about all the details regarding the crash, but if you are not DUII then refusing the SFSTs is just silly. Even with an injured knee there are other tests that can be administered to check for impairment.

I have not gotten the report yet. I was being hauled to the jail to take a breathalyzer test. They said they would leave it on my porch, but no sign of it yet.

I look really hard for this specific issue. I've seen too many accidents like this. Like I said, I couldn't believe he tried to make that light. He was really far out so I started my turn, then he hit the gas. I turned back straight and thought I was out of his way until he swerved back into me. I don't even know if I was in the opposing lane at that point. I may not have been.

Wow that sucks, so sorry to hear that. I have been thinking about doing a dash cam in my truck just in case something bad like that ever happens.

This. When I get it back or get another one a front/back camera set is going in.

Really disappointed as I had just installed the compressor and they were installing the front locker in 2 weeks. Glad I didn't pull the trigger on the sliders yet. I was planning on doing that tonight after I got home.

No magic number. Lots of things go into setting off airbags. Speed, acceleration, lateral acceleration, vehicle pitch and yaw, angular acceleration, etc.

    Glad you’re not seriously injured.

Why would the make you take a field sobriety test? Something isn’t adding up. I mean if he was going through a light on yellow it still has a second before it turns red and another second before your light turns green. So he either blew a red light or you went early. LEO’s only do field sobriety tests when they have suspicion someone is under the influence.

Based on his explanation I believe they were driving in opposite directions. Meaning OP was turning left in front of the other driver, but tried to stop and get out of the way.
