You’re talking to a guy who owns a ford lifted on blocks who is talking on a Toyota forum. That says enough.

Let’s rewind. A member here starts a thread in which he expresses some slight dislike or perhaps just merely stating he wasn’t blown away by the 3rd gen. Cue other people to chime in with their thoughts ... but, but, but wait these thoughts aren’t like yours. Wha,wha, wha what how could that be!

Like I said multiple times throughout the thread, despite the flaws in the 3rd gen I still love it and get a smile every time I get in it and drive it. You drive a Ford, lifted on blocks, who insinuates BS on a TOYOTA forum:crazy:

Sorry if I hurt your feelings bud. You just drive a Ford and have nothing really to offer on this forum besides talk crap and be a little s***. Buh-bye:burnrubber:

Don't do it OP, get what you want, get exactly what you want or stay put.
Too much money at stake, mainly your money trying to leave your pocket.

And now, here's what we have accomplished so far:

It would seem that it has been established that our 3rd Gen trucks do actually produced hp, and there are even videos out there that prove it.
But in order to tap into this hp we need higher rpms, and some members here seem to have some reservations for fear of busting their engines into smithereens and are thus apprehensive to do that, so we maybe stuck in a loop here.

If we can somehow get past this fear, I think we could declare 3rd gen no hp problem solved.

Now, to solve the transmission shifting issue.

This may prove to be more challenging, as we have to somehow prove with a another mathematical formula that the truck is going to shift less with 4 speeds than a six speed transmission and it maybe better, or even normal.

But, even if can solve that, we’re still right back to the most important problem left to figure out, how we can fit a large round 6’1” circle into a tiny square box with a sunroof!

And I’m afraid that may prove even more difficult to solve.

    And yet, here we are…

Multi-Speed Automatic transmissions do not necessarily have to shift more. I was reading about the GM/Ford 10 Speed and the only time it hits all 10 gears is if you hold the throttle to the floor, otherwise it's just more choices for the computer to pick from. If you were just driving normally it might start in 2nd gear, shift to 6th, and then 10th.

Yup, I read something similar to that.

And for the record, mine just dosen't shift as is complained so much about here, but there was more shifting in the early 1800k miles and now it just drives like a 4 spd, and I came form a previous 4th gen T4R I drove a few years prior

I believe all 2018's AT's have the latest transmission TSB, but I could be wrong. At least mine came with the latest and it is a 2018.

The key when accelerating is steady pressure on the pedal. Just keep a steady solid push on it and the truck will shift like you think it should. I have gotten pretty good at knowing when my truck is about to shift into the highest gear possible. I just add some weight on the skinny pedal and it maintains the same gear up until where it should before shifting. Its a bit of a learning curve, but I really don't mind this transmission that much now. And I came from a 1st gen manual that I learned to drive on when I was 8. If I can make the auto work then anyone probably can haha
