    Hi,

I’m planning on ordering the full 2.5” king suspension kit from toytech for a 2018 TRD OR and want to get a set of new BFG KO2’s to go along with it.

From what I’ve researched, the biggest size I can fit that won’t rub and wouldn’t require any cutting is the 265/75/16s. Is my understanding correct? If so, has anyone run a similar setup that can comment on ride quality versus stock? I.e. are they worth it over the stock Wranglers. Really appreciate the help.

Im running 2.5 foxs with 265/75/r16 Toyo's. I have no fit issues. Some member have squeaked larger setups
For ride quality, stay away from E-load tires. they are heavy and over-kill for tacomas. they also ride very rough.

What terrain to do you drive in? A lot of off-road or mainly street? Lots of rocks, mud or sand?

IMO K02's are overrated. I have them because the PO put them on it. Basically these TA's do everything pretty crappily and no one thing good. Maybe sand, but around here (Texas) they're no good.

My brother has been running Toyo's and Cooper STT Pro's and he's been having a lot more luck with the Coopers. they're cheaper, and better off-road. Not so good on the road as they don't last. That's what i'm going with next.

Ah very interesting thanks for the quick response! As far as ride quality I guess I'm mainly concerned with road noise and not necessarily rough/soft. Weirdly enough I actually kind of prefer a little rougher of a ride rather than soft and bouncy.

I plan on taking it off-road at least two weekends a month but the rest would be a very short daily commute to work on normal streets. I'm moving to CO in a few months and so I don't have a full idea of what the off-road conditions are like out there yet but I would suspect quite rocky.

Those will both fit with possibly minor rubbing on the cab mount. A popular mod is cab mount chop and you're all set.

If you plan on driving on rocks, go Load E. Sidewalls are heavier which are less prone to rock punctures.

Also, do some more tire comparisons. BFG KO2's are okay but there are better tires for less money. I ran 285/75 BFG KO2 Load E and they were just ok. Went to a 255/85 Load E Cooper Maxx ST, night and day. Love the Coopers way more.

    What he said exactly.

In CO the K02's will not be good. Id look into Coopers and see if that's something you'd like. Also in the winter you'll want to get a spare set of rims and snow tires for the road. It makes a huge difference.

Awesome, thank you both. I'll keep digging and I'll definitely check out those Coopers.

I HATED my KO2 in the snow. Maxx ST was much better.

Interesting, don't see a ton of negative feedback on the KO2's.

One more thing -- back to the size. I don't think I'm ready to cut up my 2018 so the cab mount chop is out of the question for now. With that being said, should I focus on looking for a 265/75/16 sized tire (regardless of KO2s or not)? Thanks.

You also don't see a lot of people on this forum that actually off-road with them

I believe most people are fitting 285's if that's the route you want to go. More tire the better off-road. you will take ~2 mpg hit if you're concerned about that. It also depends on the tire a lot.. No one tire is the same. 265 is a good all around size. not bad for the road and not bad off-road.

If your set on ko2s I'm pretty sure a local guy has 275/70/17s. I assume they also have 275/75/16. I recall he said no rubbing. Check those out. They would be E Load though.

Look at KM2's (over KO2's) for offroading. Ko2's are for mall parking lots.

Better yet are Cooper STT PRO's. Best off road tire I've ever owned.....
Cooper "Maxx" would be my 2nd choice.

    Ko2 are a myth.....Not great at anything.
