I had a fairly uninformed salesman. He mentioned we were taking out an 18, I didn't bother even looking at the sticker since it wasn't the color I wanted. It's entirely possible I was driving a 17. If I can drive an 18 with the tsb, I may feel different about the power and shifting. I'm really in no hurry, not sure when I will get around to it, but I'll update for sure as long as this thread is still around and isn't hijacked by too many ford owners, lol.

I'm not going to read all 16 pages but will offer my 2 cents. You can definitely add aftermarket heated (and cooled) leather seats from Katzkin or Alea. Get an aftermarket headunit with Apple Carplay or Android Auto. Those are very easy upgrades.

I too have been looking at the 3rd gens and was not impressed on the test drive. I didn't like the powertrain and the seating position wasn't to my liking. I'm only 5'7" and found that the low seating position and steering wheel that didn't telescope much to be a challenge. I'm sure my shorter arms didn't make it easy. I sat some more, adjusted seats. Test drove it twice. In the end it wasn't for me. Although I love the idea of the Tacoma I think the execution was off for my experience. Currently have a 2016 4Runner and comparatively the powertrain is better (IMHO) and the seating position/comfort are night and day. I tried to justify and maybe say well I'll get used it or the ECU will learn my driving style. That I need the truck bed. Those things are always very iffy. You might not ever get used to it and your opinion might not ever change. Don't look on Instagram or have people on here try to sell you. Chances are it'll sway your decision for the wrong reasons. So my suggestion is to go with your heart and reflect on your test drive experience. If it didn't feel right don't do it.

I got my 2017 trd sport DCLB on oct 22 2016 We have put over 50k miles on it in that time and did a two month road trip throughout canada and north western USA. Im 5'11" and my fiance is 4'11" and we both have no problem fitting comfortably and driving for 8+ hours. My dad who is 6'3" Can even fit just fine and enjoys the trucks balance and he is used to 1200ft lbs from his diesel. As for tranny shifting and "Lack of power" Run premium gas. We run 91 or better and it has great throttle response and rarely searches for gears when going up hills. We also run 275/75/18s and average about 20/21mpg highway with our airdam on and our ARE topper. I feel like the motor gets better with time and the computer does learn your driving habits. We both drive it like we are in our sports cars (2017 TT mustang gt and 2013 Turboed FRS) and by no means does this feel slow for a mid size truck, it has all the power it needs as is (though everything is better boosted). This truck has its obvious flaws but as with anything in life you have to compromise. The only thing that can change your mind is the truck itself.
    Goodluck!

Yes we had it reset to proper mph... kept getting pulled over. 2 inch lift with lots of trimming and heat gun work. Also getting 21mpg we were anywhere from 65-70
    70-75 is around 20mpg

Chevy was towed out of impound to avoid putting insurance on it to drive it back.. buddy didnt have insurance on his winter beater n was pulled over.

That is VERY impressive . I can get 22 to 23 at 50 to 55 mph with a stock OR. At 70 I will be lucky to get 17 to 18 with a tailwind .
Edit , I have a front air dam on it .

I forgot to mention that i have not had the air dam on and drove over 65 mph yet and have not used summer blend gas with it yet either . I look forward to the spring when I can get it . I will try the higher octane also but It has not helped me much before . The non ethanol does help though.
I have to drive about 60 miles away to find a highway with over a 55 mph limit lol.
Anyway I will stop jacking this thread now , sorry all .
