Rust buy back FYI

Brother in laws 98 Tacoma with 180k had rusted out frame under bed, Toyota bought back for 10k, 1.5 times book

 

Yup.... lots of threads about that already.

If you're not the original owner, you don't get the 150% buyback. I don't know what the actual percentage is....but its to prevent people from buying old trucks and immediately turning them over and reaping the benefits.

Some of the 01-04 trucks are getting total frame replacements or rust coatings depending on bad the situation is.

A girl I work with, her brother had an older tacoma - the frame actually split and had to be towed to the dealer.

thats false. i had my tacoma for less than 6 months before toyota bought it back for 1.5 times KBB. there might be a rule now where you have to own it for a certain amount of time, but you do not have to be the original owner.
