Whats your definition of worth?I bought my truck in Sept and can already make 4-5000$. Pretty worthwhile imo.

Knock 2 grand off the sticker and I'd buy it. Not long ago you could buy a nice 2 door Wrangler like that for the low 20's. Now they've totally ruined that vehicle because every “rock crawling over lander” has to have one to cruise around the Burger King parking lot. Don't mind me, I'm just a grumpy old man.

If you can turn around and sell your used truck for $4-5000 more than you paid for it and have put into it since you should do it. Then start over with another new truck and $4-5000 in your pocket.

OK. I bought an SR AC 2.7 with the utility pkg in December for $27,000+.
Offer me $32,000 for it right now and it’s yours. That includes the upgrades I added to it. New tires, tonneau cover, bed mat, battery powered bed light, etc.:yay:

Sure. Just bought a new pair of gloves. I could have got a nice pair of gloves with nice leather and thinsulate insulation for under $100. These are guide gloves. I did not want insulation. I ended up paying $110 for similar with no insulation. Tad bit heavier leather palm reinforcement.
I am also a woodworker for fun. I paid a lot for a tri square with no measurement marks! No marks, but it is rosewood with heavy brass inserts. Guaranteed to be "square" much longer than the $10 one you buy at Home Depot.

    My sentiments exactly.

I would have used slightly less verbiage, but you have captured the true essence of this useless bullshit thread quite succinctly.

    Bravo Sir.

The truck is just way too under speced for the price.

The 2.7 is just too weak for a truck vs the Colorado base engine. I know it sounds a bit rich, but what's another $5k to get the engine and stuff you really want.

Because you can get a V6 4x4 with convenience package for 30k and for less than $1,500 added wheels, tires, tonneau cover, intermittent wipers, roof rack, pop n lock.

The only thing I really see the TRD sport has over mine is fog lights, hood scoop and entune... I think I'll take the 5k in my pocket.

I think some people are forgetting that you can't get an SR with the V6 anymore for 2018. At least in my region

    $29,270 SR 4WD 2.7 Auto
    $34,290 SR5 4WD 3.5 Auto

Not in AC. DCSB with 4x4 is automatically V6.

If you can get all that for less than $1,500 you’re a good shopper.:spending:

LMAO at this. Good one. :D

Been driving for 33 years (legally :spy: at least). Actually driving a good bit longer than that. Learned how to drive on dirt roads in a stick shift pickup.

Most of that time I've either owned Mustangs or 4x4 vehicles.

For some reason or another I'd never owned a Tacoma but always liked the looks of them. I was in high school when Back to the Future came out.....that Yota really took root in my brain.

My last truck, bought new in 06 and driven daily until this past October, was a midsize dual cab 4x4 Frontier. It handled everything I threw at it and proved to be about perfect fit for me in terms of size, capability and fun to drive.

When truck shopping locally I drove everything and pricing and poor fuel economy kept steering me back to the Tacoma.

I finally went and test drove one and it was all over. Quicklike. Decision was made pretty damn fast on what features I wanted. The SR5 covered it and I was soon on my way with my shiny new ninja-black Tacoma. The SR5 sorta harkened back to my early days as a driver....remember seeing the SR5 badging on early Tacomas and liking the look.

Looking back on it......I sorta wish I'd waited a bit after getting dialed in on a Tacoma....waited and really focused more on the various trim levels. After doing so I see two models I would have also liked to look at a bit more closely: SR Access cab 4x4 in MGM & upgrade the wheels & tires............TRD Sport DC 4x4 in Quicksand.

I passed on Quicksand while shopping....but damn if it hasn't grown on me.

Attached photos of my old TRD off road and new SR with convenience. Over $10k price difference between the two. I traded my Passat with well over 100k miles on it and walked out with the SR for under $19k. I proceeded to buy brand new unwanted TRD off road parts and slap them on my truck. End result for me is the perfect truck with what I wanted. I could not imagine going the other route now that I have purchased a Tacoma Off Road and the base model.

Yep, the '17's with the manny you could get for under $25K. Now that the auto is mandatory they are $26-27K so pushing $30K OTD. Too much for that weak of an engine. Especially when (if you look hard enough) you can find an extra cab F-150 V8 in that price range.

I am also finding the naturally aspirated V6 F-150's sub $25K, the specs are very similar to a V6 Tacoma. Towing is about the same, payload is more, plus you get a bigger truck with more room, mpg is going to be the same or a little more.

Toyota's used to be a cheap alternative to a gas guzzling fullsizes, not the case anymore. Heck if you're really cheap, you find a fullsize 2WD regular cab for sub $20K.

The price gain, a bunch of unneeded electronic gee-gaws, and no ground breaking improvements in fuel economy is making me loose interest in the brand.

The basic little truck is all about dead, this grumpy old man blames car people.
