Just installed the updated 612 sumosprings on my 2017 dcsb off-road. Rides much nicer with 200lbs of sand in the back. About 3/4 in clearance above the springs when unloaded. No lift gained, ride was identical to stock unloaded. Should make a nice difference when pulling my camper this summer.

    Did you get the 612-40 (500#) or the 612-47 (1000#) ?

My sumosprings have always rested on the frame.

I have 1 sumpspring that lined up centered with the frame pad above , the other is off set from it . Has anyone else had this happen ?

I have a cap and rack. If my bed is otherwise empty, they still touch. I have the #1000 sumosprings, I can't believe they'd be taller than the #500, just denser.

I still love them for what they cost though. I get 0 sag towing or loaded, or both. You can feel them though.

Sumosprings updated the part numbers for 3rd gen tacomas. I believe the change was to shorter, fatter springs that won't contact the frame all the time for a less harsh empty ride.

This is correct. 612-40 (#500) and .75in gap between top of spring and frame. Like I said though, a couple of sandbags really flex these weak leaf springs. 200lbs of sand and the frame is resting on the spring.

Sumosprings recommended the 612-47 to me when I contacted their customer service. You've got me leaning towards the 612-40

From what I understand. The 612-40 are 50% compressed at 500lbs, which is still taller than the oem bumpstop. I guess if your carrying a lot of weight the 47's may be better, but they really only give you the illusion of more payload capacity. Either way, the ride is unchanged unloaded.

Thanks for the input! Here is sumosprings answer when I asked which the recommended, for anyone else currently shopping:

    "Thank you for your entry.
For most cases I would recommend the 47 as it will provide for more muscle without compromising current ride quality.
If you don't believe you need the extra muscle because you are never loaded to much then the 500 is more than enough.
The SumoSprings have a progressive nature, this being said they get stronger with more load and are soft to compress when not under load.

If you order from our site you do have 30 days to try out our product if you wish to change to the lower/higher density, it is an easy switch.

    I hope this helps."

200ish and the frame makes contact with the 612-40s. I order from suspension connection, with a 10% discount it was like $186 shipped. If you have a cap or toolbox, the 47s may be the way to go. The 40s should work well enough for my camper and gear. Again, just cause it doesn’t squat, doesn’t mean it can handle the weight, this truck isn’t known for it’s huge power and long lasting frames.

Yeah, you would sag less given the same weight. Still gonna drop 3/4 of an inch before you hit the spring, but after that you will drop less. #StillLimitedByPayload

Added a ARE cap to the truck, which caused it to rest on the 2016+ sumos all the time. Ride was awful, so I switched to the 2015 (610) sumos. The frame is now always in contact with the sumos, but the ride is greatly improved. The rear end now sits at stock levels with the cap on. Also, 612-47 sumos for sale shortly.

I have 612-40 and with 500 lbs in the back they barely make contactF2B52443-F454-4FA3-94B2-3214D9B24AFC.jpg
