What have you powered with your truck bed outlet? - (2016+) Stock/OEM

What have you used powered with your truck bed outlet?
Did you have any problems?
Do you find it useful or in need of an upgrade?

Personally I have yet to use my outlet for anything but I want to give it a try... Perhaps to air up a mattress for camping or to recharge a small BOSE speaker while camping... Any thoughts?

 

Lol. I used mine to hook up a hair dryer and take those silly warning stickers out of the bed. Also, I used a dreamer once as well. Very handy if u need it for sure.

Would b great for things like tailgating and I’m sure tons of people have done that also. U could use just about anything that needs power I would imagine. Nice feature for sure.

 

I’m surprised you could run a hair dryer with it. It’s only good up to 400w which isn’t much. A coffee pot wouldn’t even work.

Small, low power items. Phone chargers, small lights. Not really sure what else. Most power tool chargers wouldn’t even work. Most are 500w (4Ah).

 

I've used the truck bed outlet to power a electric chainsaw off-road far from any power source when clearing fallen trees during hunting season and once to clear a long driveway of a fallen tree.

One of my favorite features on the truck.

 

Wow. It must not have been cutting anything too big. I’d imagine they pull at least 10 amps max.

 

I don't have one in the bed of the truck, but i did buy a 400w inverter for the cab. I used it to power a small submersible pump by little giant to drain our garage. It was raining and the building didn't have power.

Remember that to get the 400 Watts the truck has to be running ! One can only use the 100 watts while it is off or about .8 amps. So a phone charger or a lamp with a 75 watt bulb are safe to use .

Edit , this may be wrong , the page from the manual is a couple posts down from here . It is not clear to me .

Oh , so I guess it is when the truck is off it is 400 watts ? I think the manual could have been written a little clearer as it talks about what gear it is in rather than running or not .

 

I ran my harbor freight hand router to round over the edge of shelves i was making at a business.

It is supposedly 2 hp (which would make it like 1100W), but it runs fine on the inverter if you take it easy. I know that inverter is much maligned by a lot of people, but it's worked for me.

 

Used it to charge the battery for my drill so I could install more useful 12V directly above it.

 

Christmas lights so far. Wish it was a little more beefy to run a heat gun.

 

A blender on a low setting. Made margaritas.

 

Wasn't a 400 yr old oak or anything but big enough that I was impressed with the output.
