Looks like the only 34" option for 17's is 285/75r17. And that might require chopping up more fender well.

At that point I'd just make the jump to 35x12.5!

The 255's are starting to grow on me. I think it's only looking at the front straight on they look narrow.

My mpgs are up from the Toyo 285/70/17 to the st maxx 255/85/16 even though I was towing a boat for 40 miles

They went from 16 to 16.3

next tank will be without having towed the boat so it’s definitely going to improve

I also had a very close call yesterday on the freeway as I had to perform an evasive maneuver to go around a tangled mess of aluminum ladders on the road

The ST MAXXs performed flawlessly and I never felt out of control off the truck and trailer even at high speed

Thanks man. I’m at 39 now all around and they feel great, just don’t want to do any pre-mature wear

Depends on your model and what you've added to it. I was running 285/75r16 on an access cab. Ran 34/32 for a while wore the center slightly more than the outside. Dropped to 28 and it seemed to help wear better, and soften the ride a bit.

28 seems low for that size, should probably be at least 30

I love the way my 255/80/17 look and ride but I can't for the life of me get them to track straight. They always pull to the right. I've had 2 alignments done and they still pull to the right. Is this a common issue cause it's getting old having to actively keep the truck from pulling

This seems to be a more common issues in that tire size. It’s so strange
