they use the word "item" cause they use the same copy and paste email for every item they try to scam. they send out random emails to ads in the hopes that somebody will fall for it.

they always go for the electronics. I tried selling my old xbox on there a while back got a dude that was interested, i thought it was fishy. said to take the check to bank and cash it then wire transfer to x address. i ended up getting a check in the mail for $27k... my item was only 50. WTF! i took it to the cops and asked what i should do. they just said to shred it. I ended up looking up the names and addresses he sent to me, none of them matched or came up and the address he sent from was no good either. i just responded back to his email (cops told me to) saying, the police have your check dip shit i do not wish to deal with you.

    lol

It's all good, a lot of times when someone posts one of the scammer stories I will look up the scammers email and usually find a few other people complaining of attempted scamming as well. The more people that post about these the better, they are trying to scam people because it does work sometimes and that is pretty scary.

That's so messed. I really wish people like this would get into a lot of legal trouble! These douchebags have no respect at all. I would give them a good beating if I somehow ran into one and k ew he was a little scammer! :p
I bought a tv mount from monoprice.com ams someone got into their database and stole my card, asshole stole a grand from me. Luckily my bank is hooking me up and taking care of everything.

They just recently had a guy shot during a CL scam here.

Had 2 similar incidents within the past week, people call and make arrangements to come buy an item and they force their way into the house and hold the homeowners at gunpoint.

that's another reason why i pay with my credit card for online purchases, or even at restaurants (card skimmers) rather than using my debit card. i'd rather have them wipe my credit card than put my checking in the negative.
