I looked at some liquid compound the other day. McGuires. I got scared. I am gonna research the hell outta this and if I can ever get the time, take it to someone that knows more than me about it. It's one of those barely noticeable unless I point it out things but still.......

I only do it once a year. That should last the life time of the truck. If you're really paranoid you can buy a paint gauge and check how many microns thick it is.

If you're buffing by hand, you're not actually "buffing" per say. Hand buffing doesn't generate enough friction/heat to actually remove tiny amounts of clear coat off. You'll need a dual action polisher like a porter cable (or even a knock-off one from harbor freight) and some good pads. Dual action polishers make it impossible to burn through the clear coat like a rotary buffer.

Check out the link in my sig.

No, I removed the vinyl on the B pillars and I think I may have removed some of the clear coat. Not sure that is even possible with a microfiber cloth and rubbing alcohol but I have some dull spots now. They are not that big but it is bugging me. Sorry, no pics except for these but they don't really show it.

Love the look though. Brightens up the whole side of the truck.

I got my Taco Ceramic Pro'd. Guaranteed for life and owner transferable. All I have to do is spray it with cold water and wipe with a micro fibre towel. No wax required as it will not stick.

Thanks. I just never understood the vinyl. To me, it just attracts fingerprints more. Plus I wasn't a fan of how it made the two windows look like one because of the tint. Odly, my car has plastic there and it is fine.

    20180203_175239.jpg

I just need to remove the pin stripes and plastidip my badges.

Rubbing alcohol wouldn't damage your clear coat like that. You might have just caused micro-marring with your microfiber towel. Try some cleaner wax first.

While ceramic coatings are great, you can still scratch your paint while 4 wheeling with it.
