Purchased a Tack Life HHNP1A 14" hand rivet nut setter to help install accessories in my bed and cab as well as under the hood.

Less money than the Astro Pneumatic and the

$75 Astro 1442 13" Hand Rivet Nut Setter Kit - Metric & SAE W/ 60pc Rivnuts

Astro 1442 series mandrels will work in the Tack Life Rivet Nut Tool.

 

Running some errands this morning....one of which was to pick up these handy gems to help me with a Taco enhancement that I hope to get done next Monday.....

 

Also went out and looked at some hunting land a buddy recommended for the upcoming turkey season.






Figured it'd be a great time to lube the 4x4 system.....








Washouts & swamps will make this some interesting terrain by March/April. Snakes & gators will be out sunbathing by then. Hell....it was over 70 degrees today. Won't be long and I'll have to be much more careful of where I step.



















Was a little apprehensive to go too far with these stock highway tires......called a buddy to see if he was off work and available in case I got stuck. He gave me the green light to have fun and try to get stuck.


Fun times ensued.

One thing is for certain.....this Taco has better seats than my Frontier 4x4 did. Those were soft and unbolstered and let you sling around like a fart in a skillet. Truly needed the "nut setter" that @Easthill Bob described. This Taco held me in place as I jiggled and giggled all through the clay, mud and stuff. I had an absolute blast. I needed this day in the woods. Fun times. I kid you not about having fun. There was one spot I found that was a wide open clay puddle about a foot deep. I passed through it a couple times slowly to check it out......then backed up and finished my coffee.....and stomped on the pedal and ran through it.....cutting the wheel at times.......doughnuts through it....roostertrail coming up. Damn fun. Therapeutic fun.


My offroad impressions of this 3rd Gen are nothing but positive. Truck did great. I did some stupid shyt....with gusto....and couldn't get stuck. Fun time !!!!

Even with these clay-packed highway tires she did well. Looking forward to the day when I get some proper rubber on her....won't bother to make the phone-a-friend call prior.

Today was a good day.....and it's only halfway over.

Got bored on day 1 of my “Staycation”, which I take every year before spring training, season & snowbirds hit southwest Florida. I take a week off to unplug, turn my phone off & re-charge the battery.

After waiting two months my BPF recovery point came.

 

Ordered some Methods NV’s in bronze today! Was going to go with SR8’s but got a smokin’ deal that I couldn’t pass up at my local discount tire. Now the waiting begins..

 

Had the alignment checked and all was good but the toe. Installing the Pro front suspension lifted it a 1/2inch. Still have a slight rake and love the ride. This confirms that the Pro coilovers and shocks work on a Access Cab Off- Road 4X4.

 

Then I suggest you replace the thumb locks on the lid with real locks.
I think the mailbox locks with 1” should do.
There a couple types I was thinking of trying but have not done so. I tested one on the smaller bed box. But don’t have all the parts.
Just using some scrapes to see if it would work.

Ebay has numerous types and sizes. I used vending machine locks on both compartments under the rear seat as well as the bed compartments on my 2011. Will be doing the same on my 2017.

 

Only .5" from the Pro front shocks? Most folks are getting 1.75-2" over stock 3rd Gen OR. I'm assuming these are the 2nd Gen Pro shocks that folks have been getting.

 

Hit 5000 miles yesterday so I took her in to get the initial 5k service today. I also mentioned the clunky transmission and weird shifting and was hoping they would do the TSB reflash....

Long story short, 2 diagnostics later (and a very dumb accusation that my spidertrax spacers could be causing the wonky shifting...lol...no, just no) turns out that my truck already has the updated flash, was done I guess before delivery when I bought it or from the factory!!

Whatever, guess it is what it is. It’s really not that bad, just slightly annoying at times.
