After watching that video I have a question. I looked at the truck and I see the 2 screws up by the bulkhead (cab) and a few star head screws spread across the bed inside of a rail. I am guessing that is what they are referring to that the covers hardware attaches too?

He popped off the plastic bed cover in the video and it looked like it had cutouts in it that went around the hardware. I don't see that on my truck. Is that a different piece that I need to buy?

    Thanks

Edit: I found a picture of the rail with the cutouts. My bed rail cover doesn't have the cutouts as seen in the picture to the left and right of the tiedown. The rail goes all the way down to the channel that runs parallel with the bed. Inisde of that channel is where the star head screws are.

If you buy a tonnea from someone, you usually swap bed rail covers since his already has cutouts and yours does not. If you didnt swap them, you’d simply cut out your covers. Its easy to do with a jig saw or some “end nippers”. The threaded holes are behind your covers, which arent visible until you remove the cover. The torx screws he’s referring too come with the tonneau, they aren’t on your truck yet.

Okay thanks. I'm guessing I will have to cut mine as he has a topper installed. I doubt he swapped out the rail covers.

$200? I'd jump on that, you rarely see them for less than $450 used...

I picked up a Diamondback SE and really like the way it works. Very sturdy and easy to install and use. Pricey but feel it will last as long as I own my truck.

Looking for an Toyota Tacoma OEM tonneau cover in SoCal...
I have a short bed. I Would really be interested if the hardware is included. I've called dealerships to help me with getting a quote for the hardware and I get different responses from all the dealerships...

Your best bet will be to buy used as they do come up from time to time - I recommend you look at the X2T from Leer which is a similar, but improved design, in my opinion. The factory cover doesn't sit quite right at the rear... but the Leer looks just right, to me. I was dead set on the factory cover until I discovered the Leer by researching TW.

Thanks @myrr for your suggestion, is this a rather new product? It seems to only be available through the manufacturer website..

Being a Leer product it’s only available through Leer dealers. It’s been around for a couple years at least. There’s a review here on TW from another member and on other boards for other makes of trucks. Make sure and cross shop. Driving 40 miles saved me $300. People seem to like the Bakflip quite a bit also!
