Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

The Eagles won the super bowl on my birthday so I'm not allowed to ask for anything big for the rest of the year...

 

As soon as he offered I was hooked up to the truck and waiting for his email lol.
Drove the truck for about 30-35 minutes around town and the freeway.

 

Look forward to hearing about it after you get some more miles on the truck. Hopefully the relearning some experience wont play a factor with 1.03

 

In all seriousness I want this to work so I don’t have to eat the loss of trading a truck in. I’m vested into this truck. I just got my second set of rims(SCS Ray 10’s) so I want this to work out for the long run.

Been noticing more of the clunk lately too. Any amount of clunking when shifting is a very bad thing in my opinion. If OVT needs a cold weather tester, I'm all for it. Really hoping 1.03 makes power delivery smooth. Sometimes when on the throttle, but not wide open, it feels choked and jerky. Don't remember how it felt stock though.

 

As long as you can increase low end power and make the damn thing stop dancing through gears at highway speed, you win.

 

So are you keeping your truck now?

 

The early results are pointing to yes. I still need to log another 1-2000 miles to be sure nothing else pops up.
Things are getting interesting now since @OVTune is about to release an exhaust and some other goodies.
I simply wanted to get the drivability situation under control before I have fun with the truck and start investing into mods.

It wipes off like soot. Looks black on my finger. I got about 9k on my 2017 3.5 limited.
Always change oil religiously. Use fully synthetic. I usually run higher octain either plus or premium.

 

it's true that the dealer cannot trace the flash, and so it's not a concern about warranty.

 

The exhaust is strictly for trucks that will never be used except as an off road / non public / emissions controlled vehicle. Like any performance product.

 

Preorderd! Out of everything I plan on doing to my truck this is what I’m most excited about.

 

Problem is, after the mods pull their faces out of goober saturated pillows, pry open their crusty/bloodshot eyes, flip back their vomit encrusted hair, stumble through crushed beer cans and pizza bones and finally make it over to their computer, they will see the reports of your dastardly deed. Probably from the same TW DB. Your days are numbered bud.

I'd be interested in an exhaust that replaces everything after the front cats. Similar to the URD Spec U I guess.. nice to have options!

...and the tune is also off-road only (technically speaking). However, this last weekend after having some heavy rains I took to a local creek to kayak. At the takeout on a chilly afternoon, I started up my truck which was parked right next to another '17 OR running the stock tune. Starting my truck up, the exhaust looked "normal" and non-intrusive. The stock stuck was spewing nasty smoke all over the place... just like mine did stock. go figure
