Bike mount

Hey all

Looking to see if anyone has any insight on fork mount bike mounts for the bed rail... I did not see much in the gen 3 area....

If you install a front rail you can use the same products that 2nd gens do.

And you can use a 2nd gen front rail.

 

Rocky mounts
I mounted mine to the side rail and run the bike sideways across the bed. Not as ideal as mounting behind the cab but I can leave my tonneau cover on this way.

thanks guys this is what i needed any concerns about the rear wheel bouncing while driving

 

Guess it depends on what you are driving on. If you are concerned, seems a simple bungee around the wheel to the rear D ring would suffice. 3rd gens do have floor mounted D rings, right? (I don't know)

I don't even bother with the fork mounts. I just strap the bike down in the front. 95% pavement though, along with mild unimproved road use. No problems at interstate speeds or the unpaved road.

If I had to 4wheel to get to a trail head, I'd first need 4wd, then I'd use a more secure system like you are considering.

 

I haven't had any issues, on long road trips I'll loop a small bungee off the D-ring around the back tire for peace of mind.

 

Rail with rocky mounts. Bouncing has never been an issue. Cargo gate keeps wheels and gear secure.

If you have a 3rd Gen, you'll need to order a extra bedrail and install it.

It's hard to see, but the rear wheels of these bikes are lifted and secured to the AMP Research BedXTender to give me space for cargo in the bed.
If you have a 2nd Gen Taco, the front bedrail should be present and this is what it looks like without using the AMP Bed Extender to Lift the bikes out of the bed.

 

What t nuts did you use with the driveshaft? Trying to find some that accept m6 or 1/4”
