And this was what a load with the stock springs looked like. The wood was dry-ish (dead standing), so not super heavy. Not on the bump stops just sitting there, but definitely bouncing off of them every time I hit an imperfection in the road.


On the other hand; this is plain WET Poplar (tree had a broken top and ran like a hose when I cut my felling wedge)



So I may have been judging the Tacoma more harshly than it deserved, because I use an old American 1/2 ton as a benchmark.

 

@BostonBilly I'll hop on the 'tag bill and ask how he's doing' train too. What'd they find out? Hopefully that nothing's wrong.

No problem when i was rebuilding the valve train in prep for the turbo my subtotal from him was around 200$ every local dealership was around 350$ and unwilling to negotiate so I would not even waste time with the local guys anymore. Fuck I’d buy a new truck from gary if he sold em when the time comes

 

There I am, my 15 minutes of fame... it may be 5th place yellow perch but for close to 15k fishermen that's not bad!

 

It's a bummer that the local place wouldn't price match. If they would, I probably would have bought it already yesterday. But since they told me no, I passed on getting it from them.

 

How are you coming with that build, anyway?

 

Heard back from Gunny with the pricing. They are $12 more than the place than the cheapest place I found so far.

 

No offense dude - but it seems like you're dedicating a good amount of time shopping around for pricing... time is money too. When it comes for 20-40$ off of 600-1000$ is it worth all the work calling around etc? - just my 02 cents dude.

 

None taken Jason, none at all man. I'll be honest, shopping around is my way of "procrastinating" on buying it. I'm still fighting with myself on whether I should do it or not, and "suffer the consequences" when the wife finds out.

 

Go outside - spray some oil on the bottom of the driverside struts and tell her it's leaking and rules of the road say you need to replace both sides at the same time. AKA front/rear all four.

It’s getting close i need to drop a new fuel punp in and finish pluming fuel rails then its just some welding and assembly all the intricate shit is done

 

Worth it though...
