I'm in for the intake pipe. Will it be a metal or plastic pipe @OVTune ?

Based on what I'm seeing this should be no issue - I'm still perplexed by how that smoky stock mess passes the test personally...

I find the new camshafts to be very interesting if they are designed to move the power down lower in the RPMs (@OVTune did not say whether that was the case or not.). This truck makes PLENTY of power above 3500K RPM. I'm honestly not sure what I would do with more power up there. I don't race around in a truck and more power that high up is not all that useful for truck like purposes (towing, off-road work etc). A cam that moves the power lower seems like a much more cost effective way to get the power where this truck really needs help (particularly because of the stupid AT gearing), which is 1500-2500 rpm, than the TT setup. That would certainly help the truck take advantage of the two overdrives without dancing around the gearbox so much at highway speeds. I would gladly trade some top-end power for some low-end grunt in this truck.

Sounds like this could compete with regearing to 4.88's for what it provides to the truck. The cost will probably be a big factor for many and for me personally, losing the factory warranty on my diff's is less of a hit than losing the warranty on the engine itself. Maybe once its out of warranty, i would consider the cam. I plan on larger tires and gears would definitely help. I wonder if a cam would help in that instance

I might be able to avoid a regear if the upgraded camshaft delivered adequate low end torque. I don’t even mind a mpg hit if that’s what it takes.

I just ordered my tune today! So excited for it to come in and see if it will save me a re gear or not, if not oh well, it will fix the dumpster fire transmission. Hopefully I don't have too much trouble with the install. Does it just come as a canned tune for our trucks or do we have to data log and send the files in for a custom tune?

Okay folks a few things I want to show you,

first the ability to actually accelerate in 6th gear. Here is a log driving, 6th gear from 55mph to 70 mph without a downshift and holding around 65-68mph.
at highway speeds (55+) you'll see the truck go to 5th or 6th gear AND be able to hold the gear and produce necessary power / load to accelerate.

You can also see on the logs ignition is much cleaner, the only areas with the dips are during decel when the engine cuts to ignition retard to help bring revs down. Other than that we are have very smooth and consistent ignition control.

On the top you can see our peak ignition timing during a WOT pull is bumped up now to 29.5-30* on 91 octane, as opposed what you'd normally see stock around 19-21. This is actually better than the 2018 Camry can do now.

Changes to the cam timing and ignition timing has given the truck much more response, where you can easily accelerate without having to go full throttle. You can see on these log images the majority of the time I do not need to go over half throttle to get right up to speed, quickly.

During slower, city driving the truck will not race straight to 6th, but rather stop at 4th gear until you get more speed. You can see this on the bottom log, to the right a half throttle acceleration it will stop at 4th until you get to around 47-50mph. After that I put it in S mode 4th so you can see how smooth the ignition is.
