That's not much worse than I would get at that speed on 33s down here. My gas mileage always seems better out west for some reason.

Wind is a killer. Driving back from Utah I went across South Dakota. Speed limit is 80, driving directly into a 25 mph headwind. I got 12 mpg for that leg of the trip. It was SO LOUD too.

Was curious if you had survived. How'd it go?

Was an awesome time. The wind was stupid at night Saturday though. Thought we were losing the tent.

In Nevada the wind was so strong the trailer was shaking, all stabilizer jacks down. The dog didn't even want go roaming, only out long enough to piss then back in the trailer. I checked the outside thermometer, showed 42 degrees, but wind chill was awful.

Still windy and raining right now. Good times.

I’ve never experienced a wind that strong while camping. That was just unreal.

Front bumper just sold for the same price I paid for it new, 5 years ago. Time to start cutting and building a new one.

Maybe it was a herd of donkey's. I slammed on the brakes heading into Beatty because I've never seen a group of wild donkey's just hanging out along the highway haha

It wasn't windy in DV the nights we camped there, but driving back through on the highway it was windy and turned into a mini sandstorm. The wind at Big Sur along the ocean was ridiculous that night. It shook the 4Runner all night.

We caught about the same in Nevada, that was nasty. This is a 3k lb trailer and it was shaking. Pretty much the north side of the trailer was being lifted up by the wind, the south side stabilizer jacks were holding it down. Maybe 60mph winds? I had to put my shoulder into the trailer door to get it open. And that went on for 12 hours.

Of course, having a trailer, I had a few colds, cooked chili, listened to JJ Cale "Call Me The Breeze", let the dual LP tanks and dual batts do their job to keep the furnace running, had a comfortable sleep. ;) :amen:

Built up some bumpers for my wife’s runner and just got the light bar installed. Going to do the blinker mod into the corner light to tie it all together.

those Kelty tents are great tents.

How do you like the holes in your 4runner?

I think it adds character to it.

Ah okay. Thought it looked like the Coastal Offroad DIY kit.

    Any plans for the rear?
