That's the interest-free loan some folks make to Uncle Sam every year.

    ^^^^^ This.

Here's the bad news: If the IRS sends you a huge check this spring, it means you've likely overpaid on taxes throughout the year.

"A large refund from the IRS may seem like an advantage, but it isn't the best or most effective use of your cash flow," said Tim Steffen, director of financial planning at Robert W. Baird & Co.

"You're basically giving the IRS an interest-free loan," he said.

I haven't seen a check from the IRS since my early 20's. I have met with my accountant a few times prepping this years taxes and I am gonna have to write a very very painful check.

But seriously. You guys have any resorts or or ideas you like or have done?

I was thinking sedona as a close option. I would rather not drive crazy distances and waste our time in the truck. Also thinking flying to Vegas as we haven't been back together since we got married there

If you want to get some free drinks in Vegas just do another proposal in a busy bar. People don't have to know it's your 5 years. They just have to think you asked her the question and she said yes. My buddy did this at the hotel he was staying at and they gave him a room upgrade, free shows, all sorts of shit. He was on his 11 year anniversary!

I've done it once at a restaurant to see if it works. It did then. Nobody is going to question it.

The other one I've done a few times when I'm getting shitty service and don't feel like I should have to even pay because it was so bad.

    Grab your phone.
    Stand up.
And very loudly say "What!?!? You are having your baby right now!?!? OMG I'm going to miss it! WAITRESS MY SISTER IS HAVING HER BABY AND I'M GOING TO MISS IT! I NEED THE CHECK NOW, HURRY HURRY HURRY HURRY HURRY!!!".. Make a big scene so everyone is looking at you.

3 out of 3 times I've pulled this one we didn't have to pay. The'll want you out of there fast for yelling and disturbing everyone's meal but won't be a jerk to make you wait to pay.

MT stuff, RTT stuff, the usual.
For local anniversaries we usually go to the Westin @ Kierland Commons and then do dinner at Mastros Ocean Club. If you get smashed and have a hangover, floating in the lazy river is a good cure, but bring some water and Gatorade to rehydrate as you float.

JWMarriot in Desert Ridge is another favorite.

Saguaro in Old Town is fun in the summer, they always have pool parties and beach cruisers you can use for free. It’s “gay friendly”, so if queers bug you then it’s not your scene. Shit is goodpeople watching and near a lot when you ride the cruisers. Their restaurant is top notch, great lamb.

For other places: Vegas, Tahoe (more fun than Vegas to me), Catalina, Coronado, rocky point, Zion if she likes that stuff (I assume she would), Mission Inn in riversode is cool if you find other things around it to do as well.

Another vote for L'Auberge. Place is super spendy but the ambiance is awesome. If you opt for a less expensive hotel option in Sedona, definitely go there for dinner at dusk or after. That outdoor restaurant is magic in the evening. Also spendy place to eat but for an anniversary, it is worth the expense.
