Here is a snip of the Lock up status for the truck during driving, shifting. At low loads and low speed full lock will not occur like before, this takes a lot of load off the transmission and gears. Right now shifting on my truck is as smooth as butter

I've made modifications to the lock up control status to be less aggressive and have lock up more controllable by requested load, which makes acceleration and shifting much smoother, and stops the harsh downshift / upshifting and shift flaring.
There is a progressive lock control ability with this torque converter, not just a "ON/OFF"

All of this driving is D mode ECT OFF. ECT ON changes this completely

Does this allow the trans to switch from D to S and go into current gear, rather than 4 being the default? @OVTune

Unlikely. S+ limits top gear to the gear you select. It was mentioned earlier in this thread that doing so could cause issues.

Literally the only two irritations I have with this truck, fixed. @OVTune, will the ignition/cam timing changes also be in the 87 tune (in less aggressive form, presumably)?

Torque converter lock-up clutch status - that is to say, whether it's engaged (effectively bypassing the fluid coupling, and providing a direct connection between the input and output shaft) or disengaged (where the converter actually does its converting thing).

    as he said below.

with testing on this truck if I enable lock up similar to lexus (FULL lock above 1500 in S/S+ mode) and full lock during decel the truck is very sluggish and will not unlock until RPM reaches 1000 RPM. (this is for everyone reading) so this will not be in 1.03. I promise you guys won't like it. (for the people who wanted better engine braking). I found the better way is to modify the downshift schedules.

I have some videos of how the truck acts with full lock during normal driving. You can feel everything, every bit of what the engine is doing but it completely removes the idea of "smooth." The only nice thing about it is the gearing acts just like a manual, very predictable control.

@OVTune, gotta say you've got a lot of patience & knowledge to dial in the Tacoma's the way you are. Your work is definitely appreciated.

The tune I’m testing isn’t even close to what OVTune is about to release. So far I’m loving it. I drove about an hour yesterday and was super happy with it so far.

:) it's only the most challenging Engine control strategy / calibration I've ever done... I think Toyotas engineers had fun adding all sorts of stuff just because they could

If you have that clicking noise I had a problem too. There is a plate that protects the gas tank and the clip came off and it was rubbing of the drive shaft boot.
