If you can crawl under the truck without ramps you obviously don’t need the ramps, just make sure the truck is level. The transmission fluid expands as it warms up, there is a temperature range involved because if the fluid is too cold the fluid level will appear low, if the fluid is too hot and expanded it will appear the fluid is to full, it has to be just at the right temp range for the measurement to be accurate.

There is a procedure that you utilize the truck and a jumper (a paper clip works.) between the 4 and 13 slots on the OBD port starting with the truck cold, you have to cycle the shift between P and S as specified in the service procedure document,
Here is the thread that explains it all

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...be-low-on-fluid-directly-from-factory.405642/

I live in Orange County CA. I have experience doing this check and would be happy to show others in the area how to do it if you are still confused. You need a couple sockets, a fluid pump you can get at all auto parts stores for around $7, a drip pan, and some Toyota ATF WS fluid. Most owners have found their trucks to be about .75 of a qt low. I have everything needed except the fluid to do the check. It takes about 30-45 minutes to do provided the truck is cold. Most of the time needed to bring the truck up to the correct temp. I am retired and have extra time on my hands so that’s not an issue.

Yup, wonder how that would feel on a mtn highway, and what does that do to VSC?

Holy crap on a cracker!!! If there is any chance of driving the truck through the garage wall into the downstairs family room or blowing up the ECU I am not even gonna try this on my own! Trust me, if there is even a 1% chance of loosing when it comes to a gamble, I've already lost. I will read through the post and see what's up. I'd like to be 100% sure my tranny fluid is ok but not if I am gonna do more damage than good in the process. Sorry for sounding like a wimp.

It’s really pretty simple and seems a lot scarier than it is. The first time I did it I was a bit nervous but after doing it once I realized it was much to do about nothing and was pleasantly surprised just how simple it is. You just have to follow the steps.

Rain guards, running boards(temporary) and tray for console. Getting lift and wheels March 2nd, looking to get a few inches up and 18” rims with decent AT tires. With this being said, when I go to the truck shop to pick out the stuff I want, what do I tell them for the suspension part?

Not sure what you’re asking here but to my knowledge you can only get a 275/70r17 and 285/70r17 in load range E.

I’ve read hundreds of threads on here, it seems like the “Lift Kit” is not needed, from what I understand I really need longer shocks and struts and possibly an AAL. Mainly for looks since I don’t plan to take my $35000 truck to a rock pit, so what do I tell the shop that raises my truck? I don’t want to spend $2,000 on a Fox racing kit just give the truck some height and nicer rims
