I know I’ve had the same questions but since it’s tax season!!! I can spend a little lol! But I’m not sure what fits most to what I like since as a family we do more camping than off roading? Any recommendations?

    Really depends on your needs...
610lb spring for the 6112s va 650lb spring on the icon setup, icon can achieve more lift, icon is a coilover and 6112 which is not a threaded body, rebuildable vs not, the list goes on.

Might wanna check out the suspension sub forum and do some research.

What I willl say the 6112 is seen as a budget performance setup, which I own and have no regrets.

Yeah the 6112 are a lot more budget friendly so that’s what I like about it. I don’t do anything crazy off roading mild eastern Sierra roads nothing crazy

Yeah I’m pretty much stuck on what to do but I’m sure I should go with something budget friendly that can do just camping family road trips

I'm in the same boat and have swayed away from Icon's based on what I've read and heard. Especially because they need to be rebuilt and sent off every 30k-40k miles from what I understand. So not only do you have the cost associated with that you also have to factor in having your truck out of commission for probably atleast a full week while you wait. I'm going with the 6112's and they seem to be perfect for what I do which is mild to intermediate offroading. Icon's seem to be geared more towards people wanting Baja style performance out of their trucks. Given what I've put the stock suspension through and knowing that the 6112/5160 will be an improvement over that I know I'll be happy with it. I was thinking of the OME as well but hear they suck long term in wintery conditions with lots of salt on the roads, given i'm relocating to Colorado in June that was a dealbreaker for me.

Are u still going with OME or are u heading in a different direction? I still consider myself a rookie with all this but I’m leaning towards bilstein 6112 and was gonna add OME Dakar’s too

One last rookie question if I go with the 6112 do I need to upgrade on the UCA?

You can google Icon Shock Rebuild as well and get a ton of stuff.

I'm definitely going with the Bilstein 6112.

As far as the UCA goes it seems like the rule of thumb is that if you go over 2 inches of lift you need to do the UCA's, you can get away without upgrading them if you stay at 2 inchs or less. I know anything over 2.5 inches of lift and you definitely need them.

On the fence myself. Trying to figure it out. Wondering if it's worth the extra cost for Icons, but then having to deal with rebuilds, every year.

You can't get more then 2.5 inches of lift with the 6112/5160 combo anyway.

Many performance coilovers are rebuildable and will need rebuilding at about those intervals, depending on how you use them. If you use a non-rebuildable coilover in the same fashion, chances are it will be toast in that same amount of time. At least if they're rebuildable you can keep using them versus having to buy a new setup.

If it's going to see mostly street use, chances are you can push it longer than that. No shock lasts forever.

You don't "have to" rebuild ICONs, they are rebuildable. All shocks have a finite lifetime. Some shocks are capable of being rebuilt at the end, others just have to be replaced.

30-40k miles takes nothing and no time to put on a vehicle. If they need replacing that quick I'd be shocked (pun intended).
