Sorry for posting several times. Couldn’t figure out how to put multiple pics on one post. I suck at the interwebs.

 

You just upload a pic, wait a sec, then do it again, they stack. For the damage, ouch. Wonder if you can push it out from behind for now. I had a drunk guy stove in my tailgate. He was nice enough to leave a note and paid for the damage in full lol.. 1500$

 

I thought about pushing it out but don’t want to risk causing more damage. Getting it all replaced next week. Even if I could push it out, it would most likely be all jacked up still.

 

The toytec 2.5 coil overs are pretty smooth off the road

 

Received my lift via FedEx today. Creamed my jeans.

 

Just installed my 888 coils with 5100 shocks and light racing upper control arms on my third gen....have a slight vibe between 40-50mph...not fast one like a tire or wheel bearing, but a slow one...if that makes sense...just wondering if anyone who's installed this same set up has had a similar issue with the 888s and 5100s.
And I just had my alignment done this morning, vibe was there before and after alignment

Vibe is coming from passenger front only

 

Could be the needle bearing. Does it go away, when you put it in 4-hi? If so, then likely that’s your culprit. But I’m no expert.

 

Hi All,

I read the post by @ToyTec Lifts and lots of other reference about lifting my 2017. I've been chatting with a local guy who suggested the following:

• Front and rear Bilstein 5100s
• OME coils
• Dakar leafs (leaves?)

He's suggesting that'll give me about 3" lift and I'll be able to fit some 33s without any other equipment (control arms, wheel spacers, etc). He has quoted me $1490 CAD (taxes in) and $350 for labour.

I won't be doing super aggressive stuff, but I do want to be able to use FSRs for camping. I really want to try the Hale Creek run (for those in the Vancouver area).

What do you think? Will this setup work? The price seems good for what I've been seeing. I can't do the work myself as I don't have the right tools. I do have the ability to work slow and swear a lot though...

Ok, so I recently traded in my 2016 SR5 DCSB for a 2018 TRD Offroad DCLB and need to lift the new truck. I used to run 5100's (older gen available when 3rd gen truck first launched) on the 3rd setting up front and a 1" toytec block in the rear. I was happy with this setup, except that the front end was a tiny bit low. I am planning on adding a canopy to the rear and would like to get a similar lift to last time, just perfectly level.

What size block in the rear do I need to ride level with the 4th/5th setting on the bilsteins?

Hhhmmmm. 3" lift and you'll need UCA's to get proper alignment. 33's is subjective as they generally don't measure tires that way on our wheels. With 285's you'll prob rub on UCA's without different wheels or wheel spacers. Some rub the cab mount with 285's and some don't. 255's are an option too. price of parts seems close to right for cAd. Install seems cheap though.

Edit: you'll almost certainly need to do the needle bearing replacement too. That's seriously like 99%. So you should budget for that work too.

Okay, so i have a couple of questions on lifting my 2017 Tacoma Offroad (quadcab) that I'm hoping to be answered on this thread.

I've been looking into options for lifting my truck. Because I don't currently do a whole lot of wheeling, I thought going with the Revtek 'Pro' (LOL) lift kit, was a good idea. It uses a 3'' front preload spacer and 1.5 AAL in the rear. From being on this wonderful world of Tacoma forum, it seems that those types of lifts are blasphemous. I stared to explore other options, and from what I found is it looks like i can run a Billstien 5100 front shock with OME lift coils to achieve the 3'' in the front. For the rear, Headstrong Offroad offers a 1.5 AAL option. All in all I'm looking at $800 for the Billstien setup (including diff drop, retaining my stock rear shocks etc..) -if i do installation myself. Does this setup make more sense to spend the extra few hundred bucks? or am i missing something?

I just purchased a set of 16x8 4.0 BS -12mm OS SCS R8 wheels. I was originally going to run a 285/75 r16 as that seems to be the most prevalent with this type of lift. BUT I found a pretty decent priced 295/75r16 BFG KO2. I know ill have to do a CMC and hopefully minor fender trimming with the 285's but can 295's be done with minimal additional trimming. Ive had a chat with a pretty knowledgeable member on the topic and from what he tells me is that I'll need UCA's when running the 295's but not with 285's does this size make that much of a difference? i want to do it right, of course, but currently not exactly in my budget- and by budget I mean what I can convince my wife i'll need to spend lol. I would plan on UCA's not for clearence but alignment issues. If you want the correct amount of caster you will need them. Correct amount of caster keeps your driveabilty. I don't recommend lifts because they are really just personal preference, just stay with the major brands, do your research and ask a lot of questions.

 

My bad, I should have clarified that I understand UCA's will be for alignment issues. I guess I would like to know if stock UCA's will be suitable short term i.e. 2-3 months w/ little to no off road.

 

Yah they're pretty soft compound. I was reading full size truck guys were getting 35-40k out of them. Hoping to get 40-45k from these since we're lighter.

 

From what I understand, they are a softer tire, so that would make sense. I suppose in some cases a softer tire would be desirable.
