    The S-10 was first released in 1982. Don Yenko died in 1987, by which time the S-10 had been in production for more than half a decade...

    Same truck, different shows...

    It's a 1985 S-10 extra-cab 2WD with a nicely done V8 conversion, automatic transmission, and 3.08 posi rear! This truck also retains the factory air-conditioning system...

    It has been converted to R134a and works great!

    The sleeker nosed later S10's were fine with me. 4.3 Vortec was a fine engine. I worked for a freight company in the 90's, we had Ford diesel and GMC 1-ton vans. We all agreed the GMC 1-ton 350 V8's were the best handlers. Had some 1/2 ton chevy van 4.3's, nothing wrong with the engine but the chassis got overloaded too much and they didn't last long.

    In terms of styling, the first gen is definitely my favorite. Whether it's a pickup truck or a Rolls-Royce, I prefer boxy styling. This is exactly why I prefer 1966-1980 Rolls-Royces and Bentleys (and the convertibles through 1995) over the more streamlined 1981-newer models.
