2018 Tacoma OEM Remote start(Push Button)

there has never been an oem remote start for 16 and up tacoma, push start or key...and the remotes for 18 are the same 12voltsolutions.com has remote starts available if anyone is looking for one for an 18

 

My GMC's all stayed running when you opened the doors,don't know about toyota's as this is the first one I have ever owned so i'm not that familiar with them.

 

all toyota is this way from what i read, there were some audio guys that worked together to try to bypass the system and could not figure it out. Most vehicle alarms allow "takeover" but toyota safety that is built in does not.

No, all the lights on dash come on like you turned a key twice and you CAN roll down windows.

 

Ok I just got off the phone with the service manager and my remote is not an OEM toyota remote,it will be a audiovox remote installed and fully warranted by them,different dealers use different remotes he said.The one thing i'm not to happy about is i'm going to have a seperate remote to carry . And the remotes for the 16/17 models will not work in the 18's ,something to do with new upgraded safety software and yes it will still shut off when you open the doors Must be a toyota thing I guess.

 

My 2016 pathfinder turns on and stays on with remote start. All i have to do to keep it on is brake and push the start button. if you try to drive off with out the key the engine kills itself. If nissan can do it so can Toyota

 

All my GMC's worked the way yours did to,dont understand why toyo can't do that either. I can't believe I have to have a different remote either,WTF Toyota

Thanks but I'll pass on them a 25 ft range wouldn't do nothing for me ,the cheap ass audiovox has a 1500 ft range(so they say) but it also has real good reviews.

 

I have a friend with a 2018 Lexus RX. It has remote start via an app, but not the remote (or not that he knows of). The car still shuts off when you open the door. I doubt 2018 Toyotas will be any different in that the car remains running when a door is opened.

Dealership installed one on my 18 last week. has its own remote. wish it was on original fob instead but not a big deal. its a small remote. AND no it does not stay running when opening the door. Dealer install charge was $880 but I had it thrown in with purchase.

 

Ah. Was going to say.... Thought Toyota came out with something else that didn't make sense lol.

the salesman told me their cost for the unit is 629. I said "yeah but that is GOING to be put in before I leave correct?" and it was.... free. (well as free as anything really is)

 

That’s almost as bad as the $500 charge for nitrogen in the tires
