It could be - the negative wire is really really thick. Like welding Cable thick. It's a lot different from the one on my 2.7l truck.

It most definitely was. My friends and family thought I was crazy buying this thing but I see it as a fun project.

I'm going to strip this down to bare bones and rebuild it from the ground up. Make it a fun little street truck. I plan on rebuilding the engine and transmission - eventually. Also will be doing some much needed body work.

Really I see it as practice for when I do work on my own truck. I don't really care what happens to this truck so I can practice on it. Lol.

I swear this this hates me. Got the new seal in and fresh diff fluid. All appears good. Old diff fluid looked good still and no metal bits were found on the magnet or seen in the fluid. Go to test drive and it’s still making some sort of noise in the rear every now and then but then goes away and will randomly come back, nothing I do seems to cause it to happen so it’s hard to diagnose it. Like metal tapping metal then away it goes. I’m at a loss of what to do... Thankfully I can take my moms car to college tomorrow and then work on the truck all day Thursday, not what I want to be doing though really.

Does it coencide with light or heavy throttle, maybe while coasting for a few seconds. I have had the 2 side bearings in the 3rd make noise when waring out no matter what throttle position. The other one on the pinion seemed to make noise when you immediatly let off or get on throttle. I think the later has to do with messing with the backlash.

Check the universal joints, if the one at your pinion is bad that may be why the seal went out and could be the noise you are hearing.
May not be but worth checking.

Clocked the winch so the lever faces forward and isn’t trapped behind the bumper tube so that’s pretty rad and I’m stoked on that

Not sure if this could be the cause of the noise.
Yeah U-Joints is my next guess. Not really sure how to tell if they are bad or not.... Care to explain? lol

If that is the case then I'm regearing and getting a locker lol.

A little bit I guess. I hopes it's not any of that though. Seems like a PITA to deal with.

U joints should have any play really. Go under the truck and look at it and move it with your hand and pull up and down on the drive shaft. That will tell you a few things

Well my wallet is in cardiac arrest, Kings have been custom ordered, Wheelers bumps are on the way (they're proud of those little bits of rubber), and some ubolts are on the way too because I need to adjust my ride height with a leaf or two.

I now have more money and time in the rear end than the front and it was supposed to be just a simple leaf sprung rear end haha.

Just look at it and see if the caps are loose, grab the drive shaft and shack it. It should not have any play in it.

My brakes will sometime activate the turn signal indicators. I narrowed it down to the trailer harness, and it usually happens when it gets wet. I also have LED everything.

Nope it's his daily driver. And reason why he's using my truck is cause I needed to buy lumber today and his truck is a not even a dog it's below that. Unless he wants to transport a 2x4 one at a time... yeah I played the good friend and let him borrow my taco

It's so sad it can't climb a medium grade hill without spinning the rear tires at 8k-9k rpm on straight pipes loudest 8 miles of my life but also the funniest

Sounds like my truck when I was climbing the Sierra-Nevada from Reno with a Transmission and Differential in the bed. Truck didn't want to go faster than 30-40 MPH and was screaming the whole time.
