I don’t have all of those answers, I just know that a lot of 3rd gens get the vibe after lift. @SuperBad, can you offer some expertise? The ECGS bushing is a relatively easy/cheap replacement, I know that.

It’s recommended to use coils for lift, not shocks. When you adjust the shock settings, you’re preloading the springs. It’s probably the needle bearing and there is lots of research on that within TW.

 

If you remove the lift it should go back to normal with no vibes. Vibes are usually caused by the shotty needle bearing or cv axle angle. Both are typically fairly easy fixes.

 

What brand and style are your running boards? I've been looking for some that don't stick down so far and those seem perfect.

I'm new. Figured I'd throw these up here... '17 SR5 2.7L 2WD. All I've done to it is plasti-dip all the chrome, threw a magnaflow muffler in there, and installed ladder racks and weatherguard toolbox )I paint houses for a living). Want to switch out rims and tires next... probably all terrains. Any ideas?

Oh I popped off the SR5 emblem and dipped the Tacoma ones black which you can only see in one of the pics, the sunset one...

There's another guy that posted a little after me that is having the same issue and he did the 5100s. After reading what a couple folks have responded to my post about the vibration/buzz in the steering wheel, I think it would have been caused by ANY lift. They all point to the needle bearing issue. And they go on to say it is an easy fix with the ECGS bushing. So I may have acted too quick on taking out my spacer lift in the front. It's your call at this point so you may go ahead and install it and see how it goes. Like I said in my original post, the spacer was only $59 so if yours rides fine with it or vibrates like mine does, no big deal. Let me know how your install goes and the ride quality afterwards. Hey guys has any of you DIYers out there found an easily found spray paint that is a close match to MGM?

When you say it is not recommended to use shocks to lift... Who says that? I ask because the good folks at Headstrong sold me the 5100s I have ordered and did not at all try to steer me away from that setup. I told them my lift goals and they said that would work fine. Headstrong even offers a spacer kit to lift the front. So when you say that it's not recommended, who is not recommending it? Not being sarcastic just wondering why so many companies make the shocks/coilovers that lift by compressing(squeezing) the spring a little bit. I'm well aware that it will make the ride a little firmer the higher the setting(the more lift), but ALL lifts, outside of a top placed spacer will change the ride softness/harshness. My truck rides just fine with the Rough Country 1" spacer mounted on top of the stock coilover assembly. It gained 2" front lift with it. Didn't notice anything at all different outside of just riding higher. I made the post about removing it before I researched what was causing my vibration in the steering wheel. Others on here told me it was more than likely the needle bearing and that it is caused by lifting your front end. It was not caused by the WAY I lifted it. Just from lifting in general, is how I interpret what they said.

i plan to keep my 275 n run close to 3"lift

Nice setup. I like the toolbox and rack. Any issues getting them to work together? Is the box on top of the base of the front rack?

 

Yeah it sits on the base of the front rack via Trac Rac's (manufacturer of the racks) mounting hardware.
