I've had this truck for a few years now and it has always seem to have a louder then stock exhaust.

I've listen to other 4.0's pulling away and mine's definitely louder but not to the point of irritation as I like the sound. Quiet and low sounding till 2000 rpm but above that you can definitely hear it working with the windows down. No engine lights or exhaust leaks, all of the sound is from the tip and it looks like any old big stock long can underneath with 2 cats. Maybe a trd exhaust or blown out muffler? Maybe just how it's supposed to be.

Sounds like you have the TRD exhaust or an after market muffler.

I'll post pictures tonight as it's raining. I thought the trd exhaust came with the trd exhaust tip?

Are you sure it's not leaking at a flange? One of the gaskets may have blown out/fallen apart. Look closely at the connections

The baffles inside the muffler probably look like the fender on that dodge!

Could be worse, you could be driving the Ford focus on the other side of the dodge

I bet its not rusted to shit at least!

On a serious note, when does all that body rust become a safety hazard? Is there laws for that in the northern states?

Double checked flange no sound or exhaust gases. I assume it's a blown out muffler. Lol kentucky doesn't have any sort of inspection unless you're registering a vehicle.

I'd replace it but right now it's the perfect amount of noise. I guess the more flow the better?
