Yeah.. not really. When I got my next car (96 Ford Explorer) I drove it for several months without evening realizing that the A/C wasn't working right since I was so used to the Blazer.

I do not miss the metal seat belt buckles. Nothing like getting "GM" branded into your palm when you need to drive somewhere in the summer.

Was it lackluster or it just needed a charge? I thought that A/C systems in GM trucks were generally good, but in the 2.8L trucks you felt the loss in power when you use the A/C...

It just couldn't cut it. Probably a charge would have helped, but temps were constantly above 100 and it was 10yrs old when I got it.

Edit: Also wasn't an easy 10 years on a ranch. I think it had about 140k on it also.

This is a 1993 extra cab 2WD with the 2.8L/5-speed and Tahoe Value Package. The guy showing it is apparently the original owner and started customizing it not long after buying it. This truck did not have A/C (which must suck since it's black), but the owner added power windows and locks...

Today, that Blazer would make an excellent candidate for a V8 swap! Was it automatic or stick shift?

    Auto.

V8 swap would have been pretty awesome.

Even when that Blazer was brand new off the lot and the A/C was fully operational, using it siphoned about 5HP from the engine! The 2.8L V6 makes my Tacoma's 2.7L 4 look like a speed demon!

So you first one had the 2.8L with 6 gerbils on exercise wheels then?

Wouldn't boring it out give it more horsepower?

Nothing noticeable really..it was a bit more peppy.

As much of a turd that engine was my buddy had an '87 extended cab with a 5" trailmaster lift and 32's that was a 5 speed 2.8 and would run circles around me....i always believed the 700r4's killed them motors.

Also, even in the extended-cab S-10s it did not make much of a difference because the space was so small, but the way the A/C vents were laid out in 1986-1993 (1994 for Blazer and Jimmy) was flawed. It was just fine for the driver and front seat passenger, but the placement of the vents resulted in relatively poor distribution of air...

Later (1998-2003) 4x4 regular cabs are quite hard to find, in both base trim like this one, and LS trim. I found this one in the swap meet section of an antique truck show...

This particular one is a 1999 with the venerable 4.3L V6, 4-speed automatic transmission, and 3.42 gears with an open rear. It has spend it's entire life in Connecticut, being meticulously maintained by its current owner to stave off rust.

I met the owner, and when I complimented him on how clean the truck was, he asked me if I wanted to buy it. Right as he asked this, I happened to look inside and see that the truck DID NOT have air-conditioning. No A/C! Not that I'd ever replace my Taco with an S-10 (wouldn't mind having both at the same time), but no A/C is a definite deal-breaker, Tacoma or otherwise!

Aside from the rain guards and bug deflector, and an aftermarket Alpine CD player, this truck was totally stock and in immaculate condition! The owner said it was one of the best vehicles he'd ever owned!

This truck is physical proof of the absolute genius of redneck ingenuity!

What we have here is a slightly beat-up 1986-1990 S-10, which I am 99% sure has had a diesel engine of some sort lurking under the hood!

Clues that this S-10 no longer has spark plugs:

    1. The fact that I took the pictures in the spectator parking area at a diesel truck show (I'm surprised this truck wasn't in the show!)...
    2. No emissions sticker (All diesel vehicles are exempt from emissions in Pennsylvania)...
    3. Note the extra gauges on the left A-pillar...
    4. It's barely visible in the pictures, but this dime has a smokestack coming up through the bed!

I'll see if I can find some. It was a basic LS crew cab almost stock no lift or anything. I de-badged it and removed all the moldings upgraded the cluster to LED and it had Bilstein shocks. That's about it. I'll post the pics if I can find them. I was sad to sell it but ever since a 14 year old ass hat stole it I lost interest in it.

Edit: this is a picture taken when I first got it, the captions are from a Facebook post when it got stolen.
