Tldr: IMO there is either a gross misunderstanding by who tacosuave quoted of what he was buying/investing in, or he's the type of guy that will complain about only getting 47 pieces of pineapple on his pizza instead of the advertised 48 pieces. :bananadead:

I don't think banning is called for here. I can see his side. The guy is a legitimate paying customer and he has been given dates of progress that came and went with, in his opinion, unsatisfactory delays and confusion of what the hold up was. He's currently holding a $500 lcd screen in a plastic case and 2 cables in his hand that do nothing more than make noise and show him an error message. He's frustrated with the results of his purchase since he was, IMO, not aware this started as a feeler/interest thread that snowballed into us subbing for the chance to actually see gains without expensive piggy back tuners.

I knew in the beginning, from just reading his website and seeing his success with the Mazda scene and also with the Scion, he was not fucking around here and what I was getting into would be a wait as it takes time to exploit the ECU and gain root, so to speak, allowing the customization within the ECU. Being impatient is one thing but not understanding what you're purchasing doesn't constitute empathy on my part. This is uncharted territory for the 1gr and no one else offers this level of tuning without piggy back or a open loop only work around. This is customization at the ECU level, and as everyone reading this thread has found out, Toyota changed ecus quite a bit throughout the 05-15 tacoma 1gr offering. If the quoted poster took the time to actually do some research and read the background of what ovt has done and currently does, there's quite a bit of behind the scene work that you don't see or could even understand, like him referring to Italy.

On top of that he chooses to ignore ovt's request/suggestion that direct email is the fastest and best way to contact them. Not tagging their username, or sending a pm through tw, but a direct email to product support of the product you purchased. By all means the poster is entitled to his opinion and this is a free forum that is filled with opinion, so I say let it ride. If he's thinking ovt is neglecting his ECU support because he whines, I call bs. My ECU isn't even supported yet and I've been waiting as long as him.

Btw no disrespect intended, for once I'm actually on the fence this time. Usually I'm the protagonist.:boink:

Being invested in this thread and also lurking the 3.5 tune threads, it is quite surprising how many people don't understand what is being done and just see the standout buzzwords like, "gain" "+hp" or "+mpg" then whip out their PayPal. He (Matt/OVT) came to us with the idea of this product and he's making it happen. Hell, he even went out and bought a 2017 Tacoma for in-house R&D. If that doesn't show the level of commitment OVT is putting forth, even if it is a 3.5L not the 4.0L, then I guess there's no convincing him or changing his mind about being disgruntled. I'm content with the progress that has been shown, and can't wait for the custom individual tunes once everything is finalized.

Received my NA file and updated about an hour ago. We’ll see how it goes tomorrow. I’m guessing most improvement will be in the middle of the band. Low end orb won’t overcome my heavy ass tires.

I was worried I wouldn't be the first to contact him. This is gaining popularity now that ECU support is growing daily. Still not 100% yet.

    My seller's remorse is real @nudavinci64 ...

Figured I may as well enjoy every last bit of my truck before I get rid of it.

Seriouslly, that was me a few months ago when I missed out on the first round. Thanks for helping me change that! Need to drive the truck around some more tomorrow. Low end on the quick ride back from the bewery didnt feel much different. Really need to regear the truck and get a supercharger. =)

I’ve still got a 96 Tacoma as a real toy, so, not like I’m playing for another team, just adding members.

I will let @OVTune say for sure but usually you need to at least buy a new license to use it on another vehicle. Otherwise we'd only need one person on Tacoma World to buy one then we could all share it and use the same tune. It will most likely lock into one vehicle and would need to be completely removed and flashed back to stock before you could use it on another truck. This is how the Cobb Accessport works in the Subaru world and I would imagine its the same here.

Excited for more reviews. Sounds like there's improvement big and small throughout the rpm range. Changes in open and close loop is huge. I'm hoping for more on uping the rpm recline and adjusting shift points. This truck doesn't like to rev much in normal driving. It could definitely change the driving characteristics. Planning on buying sometime next week.

I don't care if it's another month for mine to be supported when I get it as long as it works and has continuous support for a few years

Mines an 06 dcsb trd off road 4.0L and a750f, and my ECU is still on the waiting list. Can't say for certain that yours is the same. You must be a pre-runner if you've got the 750e.
