What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

So I put some washers in to drop My carrier bearing a bit, seems to have taken care of the metal rubbing metal as it doesn’t get warm anymore, well it gets a little warm but I don’t have anymore washers to see if that fixes it.

If my trucks in park should I be able to rotate the drive line at all? Seems like a dumb question but I honestly don’t remember.

Not really, it's really hard for me to even budge it at all on my cruiser

 

I can’t do it now that I’m home, must’ve been pretty level. You know how it can roll forward.

I dunno, pretty sure the bearings toast again so that’ll get changed out when the actually bearing drop gets here.

 

New wheel finally came

 

It was not seepage, it blew out about a half a cup, four different times. It was enough that me and other people could smell it and left a puddle under the truck. Each time it did it the compressor would run a while turn off for a couple seconds and then turn back on. ECGS put new seals in it and it has not did it again.
I didn't regear I am running factory 4:30 gears.

 

What drop kit are you getting?

 

Ome, washers would probably be fine but I feel more comfortable with the blocks.

And I couldn’t find a square washer in any of the hardware stores.

 

So I finally got my 7th injector in and there's problems

 

Yeah you have to make your own. Like this, i was having drive line vibrations problems.

 

RockAuto strikes again. Since the caliper guide pins were frozen, I ordered new calipers. AC Delcos from RA came compete, since I was knee deep anyway, I upgraded the brake hose.

 

What are those, 1” think? I think I have less than 1/2” in washers and I might take one out.

I wasn’t having vibration issues mine was getting hot, which I guess lead to vibs... hoping it’s fixed now and I can Let my truck come back inside out of the dog house.

 

Yea it’s 1”.. made the vibration go away to.

 

What’s wrong?

 

Up until half throttle everything is golden. After that it almost seems to bog down real hard. If I just let off the throttle a bit after that it's fine. Right in the 3k - 3.5k range

 

Sounds EXACTLY like my experience. I ended up pulling the piggy back. Ran way better. Going to go to a meth kit instead

 

Is there a way to pull the piggyback while still keeping the 7th injector on? I'm gonna try pulling a few degrees of timing and see if that helps. I've also heard that our knock sensor is super sensitive so I may try and switch to a GM sensor. I didn't hear any knock/ping before the 7th injector.

 

Got it installed, I think it looks pretty good and the connectors for cruise and horn plugged right in, the airbag would have as well if I had a 98-04 model but if I get a 98-04 clockspring the airbag will plug in too.





Also does anyone want these 4WD mudflaps $25 and shipping and they're yours...

Are you stuck with that emblem or is that changeable? Not like it really matters but it’d be way neat.
