    Why do people dislike it?

    Anti-apple? I am but I don't "dislike" it...I just won't buy an Apple product.

Can you use this one as a phone? It'll look pretty goofy holding it up to your head as you walk down the street!

3G is to have portability.. but how portable is a big glass surface?

A laptop is more durable, you can hold it and put it aside without fear of the screen getting smudged or damaged.

My father bought the "wi-fi" version, then went to Verizon and grabbed a "mifi" (portable wireless wi-fi). The salesman at the Apple store recommended to do that instead of the 3gs...

I had to drive to Bangor to get my 32 GB wifi version. Im going to wait until the 3G version is available in Canada and then I will pick up one of those too.

Your lucky to be getting yours in the US before the rest of us poor slobs! LOL

I have the non 3G version. Bashers have no clue. I don't particularly care for Apples insistance on proprietary product designs. This is simply a slick little tablet that actually takes the itouch and makes it useful. Mine is a companion component to my laptop. If I want to sit down someplace that has a wi-fi hot spot, I can simply carry the ipad, instead of lugging the laptop in. My other place to keep it is on my coffee table. My phone chimes every time I get an email. I can simply grab the ipad and check my messages during commercials, or quickly look up something that I find interesting while watching T.V. I have several of the free games, and they are fun ways to kill a few minutes while waiting for something or on someone.

Really? You have to "lug your laptop in?" Wow. I'm not anti-apple, just anti-iPad. It's a big iPhone or iPod touch. I can simply carry my iPod touch in and not have to lug in an iPad. It's crazy!

"Carry the ipad" You make it sound like it's something you can fold into a nice little package and put into your pocket.

The fact is, you still have to carry a bag for the pad. So the larger screen real estate (since there is no other benefits with the pad) is worth carrying a man purse over the iphone in the pants pocket?

Oh wait, I think you said you carry the pad in addition to the laptop. That makes even less sense to me. Sorry...

I do not have the best eyesight, and find the Ipod touch screen to be too small to be of any real use. I find the ipad to be more convenient than a laptop. I push ONE button, and it's ready to go immediately. Turn on the laptop, and I'm waiting what seems like forever for it to load and connect to a hot spot.

If I was to improve upon the ipad, it would be to add the rest of the functionality of a P.C. I would like it if it had the means to at least connect an external DVD or blu ray burner, and had a normal USB port. I could then have the ipad as the only computing device that I would take with me on trips.

I don't know where you are getting this from. I haven't taken my laptop to work since I bought my ipad. I've gone from carrying a large leather computer bag, to a single small thin device that will do everything I asked of the laptop at work. I also don't have to mess with power cords, as the battery life will outlast my shift even with near constant use.

I do not carry any bag for my ipad. I simply bought a case that opens up like a book, that can be folded under to set the tablet at the correct rake for a keyboard. When not in use, I simply close the cover.

So you basically turned it into a laptop?

This instant gratification stuff has gotten out of hand. It takes my laptop like 30 seconds to boot up and connect...and I have a 4 year old Dell. I push ONE button and it's ready in 30 seconds. This isn't an attack on you, wolfman, just a statement in general. I just don't understand the frenzy over the iPad.
